Good unofficial IWC servicing in the UK?

Howdy

Anyone know of a good place to get an IWC serviced in the UK? It needs re-calibrating, and a general clean probably.

Don't want to send it to IWC in case they polish it!

Just tell the BTQ on the service order not to finsih the case.

As Bill said, polishing is not an issue. It will not be performed unless you approve it.

What is the watch model that you wish to have serviced? If it has an ETA/Valjoux base caliber, you have a range of inexpensive options. If it is a perpetual calendar, you may have to turn it over to IWC for a proper service.

Your movement is actually an in-house cal 80110 which uses IWC's proprietary Pellaton automatic winding system. You should be able to find a competent watchmaker to perform a clean, oil and regulation. However, if you do send it in to IWC for a complete service at some point, dpending on how scratched up it is, you may opt for the polishing. These 3227s, as Bill says, cn be ding magnets. The polishing service is included as an option with no additional charge on a complete service, and this difficult case and bracelet would be a time consuming (and possibly expensive) job on its own.

Yes the reason for wanting to send it to a 3rd party watchmaker, was to avoid the IWC servicing costs too - I assume (maybe incorrectly) that it would be cheaper to have a competent watchmaker regulate the time (that's the main issue that I know of)

IWC service is always doing everything that's necessary to cover the warranty. If they find the watch hasn't been serviced for a while and there's wear and tear visible in the movement, a full service is recommended. And if so, they won't do anything less than that. That's the only way, IWC can give a 2 year warranty on the service. Included without extra cost is a full polishing of the watch and bracelet. You can refuse that polishing but the cost is included anyway.

Usually the watch is in like new condition when it comes back from a full service but it's not a cheap thing for sure.
