Hi all, this is my first post here- just received my first IWC. =)
After roughly 4 months wait, I was finally notified by the AD to pick up my Le Petit Prince Chronograph. What a lovely piece! Well worth the wait.
As soon as my sales took out my watch, she told me that there are some defects with my strap, small areas look like they are heavily worn out. However, she assured me that she has already contacted IWC and will be getting a fresh set of straps no charges. That didn't really bother me, when wearing it I almost don't see the defective area and who doesn't like free straps!
So I took the watch home and upon some light inspection, to my huge disappointment, I found many blemishes under the crystal.
1) Dust particles- at least 3
2) Very small chip on the blue dial. It is really quite small but is noticeable by the naked eye as it is the silver paint underneath the blue coat, and reflects itself under adequate lighting.
3) The day wheel has paint job problem- the day "Sat" has some paint blotching.
4) I noticed there are very obvious strap change scratches by the lugs, at this point I'm pretty certain someone swapped out the straps and has done a horrible job. This was most likely done somewhere between leaving the factory and arriving at the AD.
I'm not sure if I'm being too picky but I've never seen these many cosmetic defects from a brand new watch, and I know that IWC takes QC very, very seriously. I took out my wife's recent acquisition, the Pilot Top Gun Miramar, and that watch was perfect, no blemishes at all. Not really sure how my LPP passed QC with this many easy to spot blemishes.
My sales is away for a week, and I will be in contact with her next week to see what arrangements can be made. Will IWC repair/replace my dial and replace the day wheel? Not really sure what to expect for something like this and how long the turnaround time would be.
The watch is absolutely stunning tho!
I uploaded some photos, hopefully they will show up.
