Welcome to the world of ingenieuring, I don't think you can go wrong with either -----but why don't you save that beautiful back for your future Portugese Auto if you like it also?

So did you end up getting the Mission Earth or 8 day ingenieur? If so, how is it wearing? Cheers, and congrats on your graduation. (what field of ingenieuring is your speciality - Chemical, Environmental, Agriculture, Mechanical, Electrical, etc?)

Another vote for the Mission Earth - white dial is my favourite.

I would also encourage you - for future dilemmas - to look at the Ref 3227, and the original ingenieurs - Ref 666, 766 and my all time favourite - the Ref 866.

As something to mark your graduation and becoming an Engineer, the Mission Earth would have to be the choice in my mind - whilst the 5000 caliber is beautiful to look at I feel it is better viewed in a Portuguese as the see through back detracts from the ethos of the Ingenieur and its heritage. Go the Mission Earth - one you have one you will find yourself feeling rather ill having been attached by a vicious bug that will cause you to impulsively purchase more IWC's - at which point you can get the Big Ingenieur to mark another occasion (or just because you want to buy one).

    Cheers,

    Ben

My vote would be to hunt down an old NOS Ingenieur model 3227-01. If this is a graduation gift that you want to wear and keep for your life I would opt for something smaller than 46mm watch. I would even extend my options to a Rolex Submariner and Omega Planet Ocean.

I really like the Mission Earth and Big Ingie, and what they stand for, but I'm not sure I would opt for one as a "keeper for life".

    Very nice gift!!

I would go for the Big Ingenieur 7 day power reserve.
And save up for a mission ;)

U got to love the 7 days as a engineer!

    Kind regards,

Why Not a Big Inge Chronograph? That would be my favorite.
