    Hi guys,

I just bought a Aquatimer Cousteau divers with ref. no 378201. This watch has 3 dials which have orange tips. Two smaller dials and one big dial from the chronograph. In my case the tips are very vague and not really bright orange, i think this came from the sun. Do you guys know if i can get new hands or maybe there is a trick to get them bright :)

    Thanks

    LOL,
    I read :
Hands of, my Aquatimer instead of Hands, of my Aquatimer.

Congratulations on the watch. If the hands are fading then a service at your nearest service centre can correct this but the colours on the dial may look at odds with replacement hands, so it may necessitate a new dial as well. The service bill has just grown by a great chunk. Some like watches looking new no matter what age. Others like the aged patina that develops over time. Your choice and your wallet. Treat your new purchase to a service via the authorised dealers. As a non current model it might be serviced locally but may go back to Switzerland especially if you leave it for years after production. Dials and hands do alter as pretty well all dials and hands used in Switzerland are not inert and both the sun and oxidation and dial materials will alter in time....sadly.

Without hands or dial you might have change from £500. If you think that's steep then I would point out that the watch will have new seals and be good for diving. A local watch man could not guarantee that. You have no idea as to when it was last properly serviced so bite the bullet and then you know it is done correctly. If you do dive with it trust the seals for three years maximum and after salt water rinse thoroughly in fresh water. Believe Chrono mechanism should not be used under water as well but others who own and dive with this model will be able to advice as to whether I am right or wrong.
