Today, WatchTime magazine had its Los Angeles collectors’ event. Like the San Francisco event, Jeff Kingston spoke on the 2007 new models shown at the Geneva and Basel watch fairs. WatchTime is presenting this in five U.S. cities, and I would esitimate that about 125 collectors attended in L.A.

But this time the event was held in a country club: the very special Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, which has all sorts of memorabilia about Ben Hogan from the 1940s on display.

IWC again is one of the brands sponsoring the event; this time there were 10 sponsors. I got there early and the set up, at least for some of the other companies, wasn’t quite as attractive as the setting:

By the way, that's Wolfgang Blum, U.S. publisher of WatchTime magazine on the right.

As usual there was a lot of interest in IWC by the attendees:

Interestingly, while the Vintage Collection models were well-received (especially the Portofino), there was extraordinary interest in sports models --including the St. Ex UTC and the Cousteau Aquatimer. It seemed like the audience like either really complicated watches or really sporty ones.

One of the attendees was our very own Richard Sheridan, who was a hit in his own right with his Da Vinci Klaus-edition Perpetual:

After the showing, there was a lunch in the ballroom, where Jeff gave a 90 minute presentation covering about 40 brands. IWC’s Guy Bove was interviewed in a video clip.

The attendees then collected goody-bags, and left for a sunny L.A. afternoon. Life is tough,

    Regards,
    Michael

    Hello from sunny L.A.

Very nice pictures and a stunning view over the fairway ( I think it's the 18th) of the Riviera CC.
I wonder if Richard took his KK Da Vinci for a round of golf later on ??;-)) Have a great time there.

    Kind Regards Jan

Michael, it looks lilke it was good fun on the West Coast of the USA, but when are you gong to hop across the Pacific and visit sunny Sydney. We also have great weather, great golf courses, great wine and of course wonderful hospitality. Looking forward to seeing IWC in Sydney one day (soon).

    about Oz, images, etc.

    Hi Michael,

Thanks. You're right --Australia is a wonderful place. I was there on my own in 2003, and met up with "cellar" who is one of our long-standing forum members. At one time, the head of IWC in Australia asked me for names/e-mail addresses of local forum members, but I suspect nothing material came of it .

As of right now, the WatchTime-Kingston tours are U.S.-based. I think they did one last year in Hong Kong, which is a market for the magazine, but not in 2008. Too bad --I'd love an excuse to travel back to Australia.

To post images, there's a lot pof info in archived posts (use "post images" as one message search term). One sheet of instructions I prepared is linked below to save you some time.

    Regards,
    Michael

Great event. The Vintage Collection and others...

Always great to meet Michael and the IWC Representatives. This was my first time seeing the new Portofino Moon Phase in Platinum and Steel. Fabulous.

I also like the Aquatimer in Steel. There was no Portuguese Vintage there - but I did get a chance to see that one at an IWC Boutique Recently.
