I recently received a second hand IWC watch and, with the help of you kind people here, identified it as an authentic Small Da Vinci (#3736). Unfortunately, in my quest to find out if it was really real, I decided to open the back. Myself. I mean, I've opened the cases of all my other (much cheaper) watches on my own, so I didn't think it would be an issue. As I pried open the case my tool slipped, and I think I may have broken the thin black plate on the movement. I have no idea what it's called or what it does. I have some pictures included here, and you can see a thin strip on the very left side of the picture on the black plate looks severed, and there's also a crack down through the word "Jewels." The movement itself was also dislodged when I opened the case, so I'm a little nervous to push the pin back in and see if the watch still works. I should have left this up to a professional, I know that now. I'd like to know if anyone knows what that black plate is and does, and is it crucial? How much would it be to replace it? And how can I be sure the movement is in the right spot so I can push the pin back in?
