Haven't been able to find anything similar online. It was given to my dad as a gift back in the 1970's. Any pertinent information is welcome. Many thanks,F.

    Hi, nice watch!

I suggest that you google the "IWC Vintage catalog project" and search for your model among the images.

If you take it to a watchmaker he can open the watch. Take a picture of the movement and note the serial number of the movement and the case. If you post that info here we can help you a bit more. Also, somtimes the ref number is stamped inside the case, that is the same as a model number for the watch.

It would be very interesting to see a close-up of the coat of arms on the dial then the experts here might tell you more.

    Best regards

    Henrik

    Hello,

Even though the image of the dial is not sharp I would say I've seen this symbol before on a few 70's IWC watches.

Think it's the national "emblem" of Oman. Hope that make sense to what you may know.

    Best
    /Anders

The attached photo is the closest resemblance I have in my files. However, to be sure, the serial number engraved inside the case back would verify the correct reference number of your watch.

Thank you all! This is great... It was indeed an official gift from Oman.

The Serial # on the back is 2118869

    Best, Farès.

After checking with the IWC company I can confirm that the model number 9409, which photo I attached earlier in this thread, is indeed correct for your watch.
