need some help here, as some of you know im a new owner of a 3777 pilot chromo that i purchased from a duty free free IWC boutique in Korea, however i'm not in possession of the watch till i fly out next week, so i cannot physically look at the watch, and i'm searching for a new watch strap like the TOPGUN
can someone tell me what the size is of the band ? 21mm ? or 22mm ?
My understanding is that the 3777/43mm retained the same 21mm lug size as the retired 3717/42mm. However, any AD/ Boutique can verify that when you place your order.
i was told from IWC boutique, that "pilot chromo 3777" uses 21mm and topgun uses 22mm..
will this still fit, i'm a little confused as some members say they have the nylon strap fitted on the 3777? or will it fit and just be a little stiff or tight fit.. or did they purchase the strap from another model ?
There is some miscommunication regarding the sizing. The Boutique is correct that the 3777 takes a 21mm strap. However, the Top Gun series has produced models that take both 21 and 22mm straps.
Any Boutique/AD can look up the reference number for the 21mm "Top Gun" (soft) Nylon strap in the proper length and order unless of course they have it in stock and that then would the best scenario you could ask for.
A way to identify the 21mm Top Gun strap is unlike the 22mm which has connecting stitching from lug to lug, the 21mm only has stitching running along the outer and inner edging of the strap. No connect stitching from lug to lug.
When I picked up my 21mm Top Gun strap for the 3717, my AD changed it out from the OEM croc and I remember there were about 4-5 customers in the store besides myself. I asked for their opinions which look they liked best, the Croc or the Nylon. They all said they like Croc but the Nylon was the winner "hands down".
So, regarding your first statement...correct, you are looking for the 21mm Top Gun "without" the connecting stitching from lug to lug.
If I am interrupting your question correctly, when you order a strap you only get a strap and not the hardware. Whether you need a extra tang/pin buckle or a clasp/deployant buckle is a separate purchase. Most utilize whichever buckle setup they have on the existing strap and then transfer it to the replacement strap. However, it is important to note that if you are going from a tang/pin buckle strap like the OEM Croc that came on your 3777 and you want a deployant/clasp setup for the Top Gun, if it is available in a deployant strap option, you would need to order the correct reference number as a true deployant strap is sized differently than a pin buckle strap. I'm not sure if the Top Gun 21mm is offered in deployant, but again that can be verified. Of course, if you currently do not have a deployant buckle to utilize and you want a deployant setup ( if available ) you will need to purchase a buckle/clasp. From memory, I think I saw a deployant setup for a 21mm Top Gun on a 3717 Pilot. Mine is a Pin buckle strap. Forum members might be able to assist with a pic if they have the deployant setup.
I hope I addressed your question correctly. If not, please feel free to clarify and I will attempt to try again.
MNG, any updates? I'm in the same boat as you here. I am also looking for a new strap for a 3777 and considering the Croc deployment buckle or the Top Gun strap, possibly with the deployment buckle if available. Any recommendation on where to look for the 21mm Top Gun strap? The last AD check only had the 22mm version available and wasn't aware of a 21mm version.
The ref for the 21mm black Top Gun strap, as pictured below, is: IWA19411 The Top Gun(sand-blasted)pin-buckle is: IWA17715 The 3777 steel pin-buckle is: IWA58635 The 3777 steel deployment buckle is: IWA59147 These are all interchangeable with each other and your watch.
