I am viewing an IWC Regulateur Wempe edition (gold) on Saturday at Chronext's London outlet. The watch was sourced in Germany (Berlin) but has no paperwork. Is there any information that anyone could please provide which I can use to validate its authenticity before I part with my cash?

Hello and welcome to the forum.
A popular answer on questions like yours here on the forum is : if you don't trust the seller, don't buy.
Regarding the regulateur Wempe, I haven't seen ones that were not authentic.
You can ask for the serial number and ask IWC if the watch is reported stolen.

I too have never come accross a fake Wempe model. Of course, that dies not guarantee this one your after, is the real thing.

Having said that - Tonny is of course correct and as we say here time and time again... " buy the seller - not the Watch!"

    Check Sellers references and reputation.

Thank you for your thoughts. I have now been given the following the reference: IW5443 and the Serial number as: 3103589 and the Calibre: 98240. Is there a way to use this to validate authenticity?

Unfortunately not. Utilities such as DateMyIWC reflect the sales record archives through to the 1970's only.

Of course it's feasible that that serial number matches the correct time period for watch - but no guaranty it's not a copied serial number.

You might try contacting Wempe and ask them to confirm they sold a watch with that serial number - without asking for any other details which might comply privacy rules.

    Again, check the sellers references.
