How do you store your IWC's

I now have 12 IWC's and a few other brands and just have them stored either in their boxes tucked away in cupboards and wardrobes or in a smallish display case, but it only holds 4 watches (and my cuff links). I was thinking of getting a watch display case so as to keep all my IWC's in the one place and on display, but then I was thinking that that would make it incredibly convenient for a thief. I have also considered a wall safe to keep my prised possessions safe but then I can't see them all the time and look at their beauty and wall safes are not that safe, unless you are embedding them in a brick wall (and I wouldn't be) so that leads me to a floor safe and that makes them even harder to get too and they tend to be small and narrow so you couldn't keep them in their original boxes or even a case, they would have to be loose.

How do other forum members store their watches? (any preference for particular display boxes? (email me as I know we can't provide commercial advice on this forum)

My collection is not as extensive as yours, so the storage problems are not quite comparable. However, I store mine in two watch winders that have glass display windows in the hinged lids. The watches are always wound, and I can admire them every time I pass my cabinet.

There's nothing like a well made watch-box!!!!!

Mine are tucked away in a 12 slot IWC watch box. I actually have two, a white one and one in black. The boxes are kept in a safe in our house and in a bank vault, when I am away for any length of time.

Mine are in the safe deposit box of my bank most of the time. Each watch is inside a soft bag, with a deliquescent product, to absorb moisture.
It is a major inconvenience, and requires some planing but, with burglaries on the rise, it is the best way to protect one's investment.

I rotate my watches in and out of the bank safe deposit. When at home most are on a winder.

Wow! That is a wonderful collection. I gather from the photo that the Lange is the cherry on top...

I store my watch here ... Its safer that way... and would really encourage those of you with "a watch with a story" to do the same!

But on a more serious note Shane, you have a fantastic collection - so bank vault and a few in rotation at home IN A SAFE if your out of house or a display/winder when home.

I have a box for 12 IWCs and a box for 6 of my italian divers at home.
As we have a lot of problems with burglary I have most watches,over 90 pieces, in my banksafe.
You imagine there may be a problem of space. Therefore I use a small plasticbag of 10x6cm approx. per watch. A kind of those zipbags you use at the airport for liquids.
I have a few flat kind of shoeboxes in which I put these bags filled with a watch per bag. I one box I can put three layers. Those boxes size matches perfectly the size of the safe.

Being carefull there is no risk of scratching and you can store a maximum watches at relatively small space. Between each layer of watches in bags I put a sort of thick sheet of paper +-200g/m2.
With this I neved had any space problem or damage of any kind.

Same here, I like mine in winders where they can be admired...

(I like fully programmable winders which with on/off & directional functionality mimics wrist wear without being too harsh on the watches)

I am still trying to get mine into the Cloud. Until I crack the uploading problem, I use a safe on terra firma. I don't use a winder in case it wears out the watch ;-)

I usually store one of my watches on my wrist - I find that this is the safest place for it and usually pretty convenient if I want to tell the time as well :P

I keep the rest of them in a wall safe. I purchased a number of stackable winders that fit nicely in the safe and keep the watches in there. Originally I used an inverter and a 12v battery that was also in the safe to keep the winders going and re-charged the battery every now and then but recently I managed to sort out a hard wired solution to the mains where I route the power through one of the holes that is in the base of the safe for mounting to the floor (it has holes on the rear and base for either wall mounting or floor mounting).

If you get the right sized safe you could also use one of the nice presentation trays / boxes that others have shown and keep it in the safe - maybe even go to the effort of a wooden frame / truss to have a tray slide in and out.

I did recently see some very nice, high end jewellery / watch cabinets that had integrated safes - lovely high end hand finished wood and other materials made in Italy but the name escapes me at present - and it looked like they were worth more than my watch collection, but beautiful indeed.

Like many others, mine are stored in display box with moisture absorbent packet. I DO NOT store in plastic bags as straps are leather(skin)and can naturally sweat. They need air circulation for flexibility and to prolong life. I also have them stored in a very secret place in case of unwanteds and from my wife. She would use them as hostages if I don't do as she says !! LOL

Problem is that I travel every month being a Pilot...

Whenever I'm back, they are stopped :(
