Here is another horrible example of what people will try to sell as IWC watch. A franken mark x/xi mixture. Another kind of fake.
the case i think is Cyma as it has the P marking, and 38mm ..? and there is a screw on w.w.w. case back. IWC used snap on. The dial looks a type mark xi but the cal 89 but was never used in mark x.

I contacted the seller and the site and asked to withdraw this listing or rename it to ; `random parts put together to look a IWC watch ~.

    Your text to link here...

I would like to thank you for this post, and would also like to add..

I have purchased the IWC pilot's watch chronograph Top Gun 3 months back, and noticed after reviewing fake ones that a major distinction between them that is unmissable is the minutes and chronograph seconds hands.

Those two hands have a slight angle at the end of the tips.
I suppose to make it more accurate when reading the time on the original.

Hello Al and welcome to the forum! That is a beautiful watch you have there, congratulations. I believe that the curve or angle at the tips of the hands has to do with the curve of the crystal. The crystal is higher in the middle and the clearance is reduced towards the edges. I also wondered if the curved glass has an effect on the visual appearance of the hands.

    Best regards
    Ben

Thank you very much for this helpful information. I sometimes can tell a fake watch when I see one.

    Best wishes

    Hi IWC lovers,

Lately come across a web site which sells replica watches, looking at this particular IWC 3777 model (i have a gen 377701) its very difficult to tell from the picture if this is a gen or rep.

Its kind of worrying as it seems the standard of replica watches lately have improved a lot.

I can only spot 1 thing which is the miss-alignment of day and date windows. The gen has a perfect alignment for both.

    Thanks,
    Eric

Hello Eric, sorry I had to edit your post. We can not allow links to commercial websites here on the forum, let alone to a site that sells fake watches.

    MyPorsche,

From the photos you've sent, it looks legit to me. However, compared to others this would be easier to unscrupulously copy.

Remember what they say around these parts: 'Buy the seller, then the watch'.

    Good luck.

    Regards,
    Thang

Hi all - i am a totally rookie here, this is my first comment. just purchased my first IWC - a 500901 big pilot - from a luxury consignment site that guarantees authenticity and offers a full refund if not satisfied so i am doing my due diligence. nevertheless, i am paranoid by nature so i took it to a local watcch jeweler to authenticate. he opened it up and said it was legit, so i guess i can take his word for it. my issue is really with the strap. it has an IWC stamp on the long end, but also has stamped on the backside of both the short and long arms of the strap the following:

    ALLIGATOR IMITATION
    NOT SUBJECT TO CITES
    NOT FOR SALE

i called IWC concierge and was told IWC doesnt sell watches with imitation bands. of course, that makes me think this is an aftermarket band, no big deal, but now its making me wonder about the watch. seems odd given the watch itself was authenticated and is in such good mechanical and physical shape (like never worn or worn sparingly). why would someone take off the orginal strap off if it was virtually new and replace it with an imitation one, or at least thats what im wondering. any thoughts are very much appreciated. thanks all.

    Hi!

I've spotted a watch, that seems to be IWC Protofino. However there is a typo on the movement lid. How it can be? Does it prove that it is fake/replica?
