    Hello,

I recently just purchased a pre-owned IWC Mark XVI. I've done my research and this watch does look authentic but I wanted to confirm with you experts on this forum.

Also, my other concern is that I have noticed the side of the hour hand had lost some color, as you can see in the photo below, it's showing white, quite possibly some of the black paint may have chipped off? Would that be considered wear and tear?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this Kurt Klaus Perpetual Cal. is genuine or not. Through my research, I have found that there is a knock-off of this model, though it is not done very well. I would like to pick this up tomorrow so if anyone could assist, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you in advance,

The "Schaffhausen" boldness, the 12 o'clock triangle proportions, but most of all, the side white stamped (not engraved) "Top Gun" logo, they all scream fake.
At least basing on the picture you gave.
Hope you did not pay for that.

    Cheers.

Seems to be a tough one...

I personally would not jugde it because of the whitish logo (hard to see for me whether or not it is engraved). I have seen such decolorisation on original watches as well.

However, the only Top Gun chronograph with the ETA movement is reference 3789 (378901 precisely). Now you can go to Goodle image search and compare it with the original watch. I see some differences:
    - small arrow next to the date is white in the original
    - thickness of the minute tracks is thicker in the original
    - the original has a titanium inner case between the dial and the ceramic case. I don't see that in your images. Could therefore be black coated steel/titanium instead of ceramic.
    - There are other small differences in the dial printing

I would also say that it is a fake - although quite a good one.

On a sidenote: I always wonder why people first buy a watch and ask about originality AFTER they have spent the money. Wouldn't it make sense to do the opposite? The only reason I can imagine is that the price must be very low and then you know by yourself that it must be a fake... Just my 2 cents.

Only the Doppel Chronograph had three registers.
Top Gun Chronograph only had two registers, no?

    Hello All,
This is my first time using the forum and I'm hopeful someone would be kind enough to offer me some guidance. Whilst I have purchased pre owned IWC's previously I have always used specialist retailers. I am considering purchasing a vintage Caliber 89 from a private dealer but have some reservations, primarily is the watch genuine?

You'll not from the images the movement number is 1483421 and the case number is 1528011.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

    THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

Looks OK, but it's impossible to say for certain. We need to see detail pictures of the rear, showing the movement and serial numbers.
    Who is selling the watch?
Does it come with box and papers?

I created another thread the other day, I linked its case back photo there.
I cut out serial number part as I wasn't sure if it is safe to post with it.

    Thread I posted

Thank you again, appreciate your help!

Please remove the link to the seller. Forum rules do not allow this.
What I was asking was if the watch was offered by an individual or retailer.
You got your answer in the other post.

Hi. I am new in this community. Maybe someone could advice me in the matter of mine old IWC that I bought in the early/mid seventies. I don't remember the price and have no recollection of any case or anything other than it stopped working a short time after I bought it.

sounds like its due for a service.
That will sort it out and make it run again as good as new.
