Many of you know I have a thing for Portuguese. I've had lots, but for the last couple of years, I settled down to these two Portuguese in addition to my other IWC's:

About two years ago I did buy this, but it left home as part of a trade for my Big Pilot:

Not long ago, the old itch returned. I thought I wanted one of these:

I began to think it might be too redundant to the Jubilees I already have, when I was offered, and just last week bought, this:

    So now I have these:

Life was easy. All I needed to do was admit that instead of wanting a Santoni strap, I now needed a Santoni strap. That, and take pictures to show you guys.

Before I could even get that far, what appears for sale by a friend we know and love, but this:

Oh man! What to do? Skip the SS Jubilee and remain happy with what I have? Sell the 5001 and buy the SS Jubilee? Sell the BP and buy the SS Jubilee? Keep both and buy the SS Jubilee, too (though I suspect the cost of a divorce after 41 years of marriage will make the watches look cheap in comparison!).

Look up "Portuguese Perplexion" in the dictionary. You'll find my picture!

Well,I would stick with those three. You just got the 5001 so its too early to turn it around.

LOL - There was no announcement yet! It arrived back with me from an out of town trip only Saturday afternoon and I hadn't even had time to take appropriate pictures until these! But as you can see, the plot has already thickened!

Dick, I'll go with majority this time...keep the beautiful three that you currently own (and get the Santoni strap!).

I agree. Stick with this fine trio 'til the heat dies down. Stay low.

I'll buy the SS Jubilee if it will make things easier for you. :) (Just kidding - I have no desire to sleep on the sofa for the rest of the year.)

I too vote for keeping the current trio. If you simply must have the SS Jubilee, I'd get rid of the BP before the 5001 (congrats on that pickup, by the way - had to get that out there as there may not be another opportunity).

I'm with the majority, Dick. Keep the trio. I am more than in love with the RG Jubilee, bye. The Santonti strap will make everyone happy. Besides, you will have to come to NYC to get the perfect color you want...that's a reason for another GTG.

I forgot to ask about the Santoni. That will be for the 5001? Which color are you considering?

I just ordered one for my 5001-09 -- dark brown. It's going to be difficult to wait the 4-8 weeks for it to come in. They aren't easy to find for deployant (more than once I was told that they don't exist for deployant and had to politely refer the dealer to their workbook).

Yes, for the 5001, though after seeing Rave's and Shing's pictures, I could use one for my 5251 as well. I'm after brown. If I recall from the only time I saw them about a year ago, I felt dark brown for black dial, light brown for white. But I'm not 100% sure I remember correctly, so would have to see them before deciding. Hard to do out here in a land of no AD's!

Well Dick, this is strange. This is probably the first time I have to congratulate somebody with his problem! The 5001 is a beauty, so are your Pisa and Jubilee. I would stick to this trio. There is however an option nobody has (dared?) to mention: sell the gold Jubilee, get the steel one and still have some money to spare on a bunch of straps!

While you are contemplating on the right choice, wear your new 5001 in good health and enjoy it while it's still in your fine collection!

    Kind regards,

    Clemens

Dave, nice choice on the 545409 LE in rose gold. Stunning piece. However I think Dick's dilemma it's one or the other. I would stay put with the trio. Rg jubilee is an absolute beauty.

Yes you're right KS, stay with the trio Dick.
