So... Yesterday I was given a watch for my birthday by my grandfather all he could tell me was it was an RAF issued IWC watch he bought around 35 years ago after it was advertised in a newspaper. Upon receiving it I was over the moon but being so old I have no idea if 1)Is it real? 2)What's it worth? And any other information you can offer me ☺ The markings on the back of the watch are as follows l: 6B/346 and 1958/48

Welcome, Charlie. No one will be able to provide any real help without some clear photos of the watch.

    Regards,

    Tony C.

Please use the little magnifying glass on the top right corner and enter query "How to post Pictures" so we can comment on your watch, not that of someone else

Looks good to me, though the experts can confirm that. It looks to be a very nice Mark 11 which were first issued in '48 and are very sort after. Google will tell you what the value is. Do you have an other pictures of the bracelet
as it may be a bonklip which in itself is very desirable ?

The only thing I saw that was different way the 2 emblem type things on 5he watch face are the other way round to those on most mark 11 however back to the strap and It is almost elasticated as it stretches quite far if that is what you mean. Below are some photos.

Bracelet is not what I thought, however looks nice and certainly should be kept with the watch.

It should be written on the back of each link, but I think it's a fixoflex.
They are not rare or expensive but they are the sort of thing that would be used at the time.

    Hi,
Sorry for being late to the party, but the Mark XI is one of my favorite IWC watches, so I would like to ask the forum a few questions. Is there a consensus regarding these dials and hands? Why do they only appear, as was claimed in the link to another forum above, only to the batch from 48? Does anyone know for sure?

    Regards,
    Jan
