...IWC North America is having a small press event in the Galapagos, and I'm fortunate enough to be invited. We will be meeting with the Charles Darwin Foundation and also actually testing the new watches in the Ocean. My job is to take a lot of photos, and also to report here. But --sorry-- I'm leaving the underwater photos to others.

That's the reason for all the gear. Some of the places are tropical, but the Islands can be damp, windy and even a little cool, especially at elevation, at this time of year. It's a tough job but someone has to do it.

I'll keep you posted, as best I can given time constraints and also intermittent availability of the Internet.

    Regards,
    Michael
(wearing, for the time being, a Cousteau Aquatimer)

I'm not sure the Leica likes water...

    Hi Bill,

I debated getting an underwater pocket camera, but decided not to do so. I then was going to take my Panasonic G1 --a 4/3d's camera with a really long telephoto. But I decided the Leica on the whole takes better photos and I should stick with that criteria, notwithstanding its limitations.

But I do have a special underwater plastic bag --so we'll see. ,)

    Regards,
    Michael

    Big news on the Galapagos...

"apparantly there is a new species discovered on the islands , a human with some very strange behaviour , staring at a screen the whole time, except when playing with watches, and then only from the brand IWC."
    Have fun over there MF.
