Andrew's recent acquisition made me wonder how many variations exist. When I browsed the archives I could only find reference to ref. 1829 and 1830, including a military style version. Also a distinction between an automatic and automatic SL was mentioned. Unfortunately the pics did not pop up (too long ago).

Could anyone, if possible, please clarify:
    1. what models are known: reference numbers, movements, dial variations.
    2. what the difference between the regular and the SL model is.
    3. During what period the watches were produced. (won't ask for production numbers as they are unknown).
    4. (if allowed) the average street price.

Any pictures would be appreciated as well.

    Thank you!!

    Peter

    Basic Golf Club Information

To my knowledge, there were only two models --Ref. 1829 and Ref. 1830 (the latter being the SL version, with bracelet). The basic dial variations are shown on the above pages, although if I recall there were some minor printing variations.

I do not have the exact dates but obviously from these pages the models were available in January 1977, so I would guess they were produced 1976-78.

    Thanks! >

This should be easier to remember than the Ingenieur models.

The only thing that holds me from buying one is the size. I thought it was 36mm, which is more or less my minimum. I guess I have to look at Martijn's watch again before I make up my mind!

    Thanks again,

    Peter

    Only word of mouth

    Hi Peter

When I was acquring my first GC a source close to IWC history had mentioned to me that towards the end of their production period some of the SL versions were also produced without the SL metal strap. Also several different dial variations were created which are not in the dealer hand books. The one I have is perhaps a prototype dial (only 10 or so made) which is both silver and darker when viewed from a different angle. Not Ardoise.

    Hi Peter

I have no idea about the average prices but I was offerred 3 and the average price was in the 2250 Euro range.

I hope you can find better deals.
