Realise this may be an unusual selection - but recently fallen in love with IWC and deciding on my first purchase.
While I love many different models, I think my first will be a tool/sports watch, and these are the ones most catching my eye.
Any views on which of these would the be the best purchase from a collectable perspective?
I realise that the Aquatimer will be due for a refresh relatively soon, so not sure if I should wait for that. Love the Ingenieur constant force - but that's way, way out of my budget - and the ceramic AMG looks a more affordable and minimalistic alternative.
And the GST seems to be like a classic, considering a titanium model from around 2002.
Love some thoughts and input - thank you!

If you like the GST you should also look at the GST perpetual. You can find them still in excellent condition for quite a bargain (for a perpetual) and it is an absolutely terrific watch.

From the three watches you mention I would choose the brown dial Ingenieur AMG. First, it looks best to me, second, I happen to like the 80110/80111 movement, third, the watch is light and sits fantastic on the wrist despite its size.

I am not sure why you think the Aquatimer will be refreshed soon, the line was refreshed two years ago.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

Paul, excuse me for chiming in: if IWC keeps the 5-year turnover the AT will
really be refreshed in 2019 but 2017 will be an anniversary: the first AT will
turn 50 and this may rise expectations on something more than a short run of
precious metal something or similar. Just my two cents.

You are absolutely right! I wonder what IWC will make available to celebrate this milestone!

Paul - the Aquatimer 2000 ref. 3538 in titanium might be a great option. They are not as big in diameter, and really comfortable. The versions with bracelets fit your wrist like a glove. I almost bought one of these, but I am a sucker for sapphire bezels, they look very retro via bakelite. For a titanium watch, the 3538 can be found at fairly good prices. Just a thought.
