    Dear Friends,

I finally bought the 323601. Am really new to the IWC brand. So I hope to stick around the forums to learn more.

My partner and I were in a hotel room earlier. I left my 323601 on the table. Unknown to me, she boiled a tub of water to make tea. The tub was really near my watch. Now, I am wondering whether will the heat cost any damage to my timepiece. I know I may be paranoid, as the 323601 is a robust, rugged model. It could be my OCD acting up. But, still I wonder…

So if any of you guys know anything about this, do advise me. I do not wish to send in for servicing / testing so soon after I bought this watch… Please help!

    Regards!

Teehan, unless the tea pot was thrwong the steam directly at your watch you have nothing to worry about. Wear your new gem and just appreciate it :-)

thanks dude for the amazingly fast response. i can't confirm whether did the steam come into direct contact with the watch. but when i touched the pot, it was really hot. but i had to add that the room was rather cold due to the air-conditioning. so i guess that balances things out.

so can i now be assured that everything is fine with my iwc?

    regards!

    Hi Teehan,

if any watch can stand this "treatment" it is the Mission Earth.
I'd say, nothing to worry about...but as I intend to make this my next IWC, could you please post some pictures?

    Have a great weekend

    dear sinclair,

unfortunately, i'm not very tech-savvy. i can't post any pics for your viewing pleasure. but trust me, this watch is wicked. heavy, robust, powerful, rugged!

the photos on the iwc web site should be good enough for general viewing.

    regards!

    Hi Teehan,
    Don't worry about that.
I take my aquatimer into the Sauna, where I stay for 15 min at 90 degrees Celsius- there nothing with the watch.

    regards
    Stefan

    HI Teehan,
In the beginning, I never took my watch off.
But nowadays I do not anymore.
The reason is that the leather bracelets wear out quicker.
Of course that should not be a problem as well, but they are to expensive for me to neglect.
    Cheers

    dear friends,

i realized that there is an issue with the power reserve on my ingenieur. i bought it on 21 oct 2011. initially for the first 3 weeks, my watch has never stopped, as i was wearing it for more than 8 hours daily.

2 weeks ago, i swopped it out and wore my other timepiece during one evening. the next morning, my ingenieur had stopped. during this period, i monitored it and on more than 3 occasions, it has stopped during the wee hours of the morning, even when i have worn it for prolonged periods. i usually stay home during weekends. but i make it a point to wear it. of course, there is not much wrist movement when i am indoors. but this is no excuse for the lousy power reserve. in fact, i wound it 40 rounds last saturday morning.

should i be concerned? must i send it in for a check? pls advise.

    thanks a lot!

    Hi Teehan,

My opinion, and others may have a different opinion, is to monitor the watch more strictly.

In other words let it stop fully, then fully wind it 40-50 turns of the crown, and leave it stationery and unworn, and check when it stops, i.e. how long the power reserve actually is. If it is really much shorter than the 44-hour power reserve that it is expected to have, then I would suggest you bring this to the service centre to be checked.

If not, then I will monitor in this way a few times over the next two to three months just to give the movement time to "break-in".

Again, my opinion only - others may have a different opinion, and they can well be right.

    Hi Teehan,

I don't have a 3236 so I can't tell you I am afraid. I have read a few similar power reserve problems before in the forum archives - so I think it does happen.

In any case, don't be too worried - these things happen, and as its under warranty IWC will fix the issue.
