While looking in the portuguese collection I saw that the yacht club slightly changed.
Diameter: from 45.4 to 43.5
Variations: silver dial(steel case),
silver dial (gold case),
ardoise dial(steel case)
What do you think about it?

Yes, it is just presented in Geneva at SIHH:
For me: I'm happy I got the old style version because:
[ul]
[li]I love the 45.4 mm. It's the perfect size for me[/li]
[li]I just double-checked: the dial is ardoise with a sunray burst, this looks pretty cool and classy, but I prefer the white ring on the rehaut, looks more sporty[/li]
[li]the red gold with ardoise dial was perfect, the silver dial on the red gold version stands behind for me[/li]
[li]The only thing that has improved for me, are the innovations in the movement, which aren't too big though[/li]
[/ul]
For my taste the Yacht Club looked slightly better before.
Finally, the design flaw of the old Portuguese Yacht Club has been removed: the date next to the 3, with two different type sets. Because of the smaller dial, to me an advantage too, the 3 had to go, just like on the 8 Days Handwound. Bravo! Because of this, the dial looks a bit more quiet and natural. Now, if IWC would offer a classy looking alligator strap for it, it would be perfect in my eyes.
Kind regards,
Paul
Paul, before you mentioned it I had never realised it. And I wear this watch every day since 2.5 years now! Strange isn't it? Now it looks a bit odd to me.
Thank you Paul for this! ;-)
Does the strap have a different size at the lugs than the recent model or is it the same?
If it's the same size then of course the strap from the Volvo Ocean Race version would fit too. Which is classy looking with an alligator inlay.
But the radius of the case is different so it would probably not make a perfect fit.
I actually think the stock rubber strap looks pretty nice. It seems to complement the sporty nature of the Yacht Club.
