Nice report Pauline and welcome to the forum.

I know (from another shared forum) that like me you have a fondness for the larger watches. However I was smitten by something a little thinner earlier this year and I'd encourage you to give it another look.

While on first look it seems completely different from everything else that has passed through my hands, the simplicity of the dial on the Pure Classic reminds of what first drew me into Panerai.

Good luck with your search wherever it should lead you.

For now, here's my Pure Classic.

Wow, looks like a fantastic GTG!

8 days Portofino is a marvel. For me it was love at first sight. I've tried all the hand-wound movement including the limited edition pure classic, but kept coming back to it. It's beautiful both front and back...

The recently released gold version with white dial shown here is just gorgeous. I'm hoping to get a glance of it soon.

    Cheers and thanks for sharing!

Welcome to the forum and that sure does look like a great GTG in Singapore.

Wish there are GTGs like these in San Francisco Bay Area where I live, are there any? anyone know?

    Hello

Too much gold for me in these IWC´s,I like only Steel,Titanium,Ceramic and Bronze
The Yellow and Rose gold is not for watches only white gold and some watch with the Rose Gold very dark are beautiful.

    Dear Friends

Thank you so much for the warm welcome. I hope to post here often in the future.

@Kee Siew: great to see you at the GTG and thank you so much for co-ordinating with the venue.

Here's me with my Portuguese Chrono. I picked this up 3 years ago but didn't get a chance to meet with other IWC collectors until late this year. Better late than never :)

Pauline, thanks for the photos... as KS said, we were all too engrossed with the watches than taking our own group photo.
the Portofino RG 8-days and Muhd Ali Pilot left the deepest impression on me.
Looking fwd to the next GTG... was good meeting up with everyone!

Welcome to the forum Pauline. You have great taste in watches and also great friends too. Hope you can add lots of further contributions to the forum. I miss not having Nicky around - the fairer sex are well under represented here - I always remember Tonny B's quiz questions at a past collectors event in Geneva.

Very good report Pauline! IWC really does need to move away from their Man's Watch advertising image, and these wrist shots will hopefully help them "see the light" and start to market to the other 50%.

Thank you so much Friends, for the warm welcome to the forum.

At the GTG, some members asked me what made me pick up my first IWC.

I am aware of the media slogans of IWC watches being engineered for men, and also the masculine image of the brand.

But I first laid eyes on an IWC at an AD event, where the local IWC brand manager (a lady, but she's no longer with IWC) was wearing the Portu Chrono on a lime green crocodile strap. It really looked fantastic on her. We had a good chat and then I asked the AD manager who was attending the event to keep one piece of the watch for me.

I feel that GTGs and watch events are great opportunities to help one make up your mind about a watch. Most people buy watches online nowadays (as do I), but nothing beats seeing a watch on someone's wrist in the flesh.
