    Hi all,

I'm new to the forum. I'm interested in a IWC doppel chrono. The ref number on the one I'm looking at is 3713-37. Is that a proper reference number? I cant seem to find anything on the internet about that reference number.

    Any one know?

    Cheers,
    Dan

    Thanks for your answer Cellar:)

Strange is that this watch I'm looking at has English day ring. Might not mean anything else than it has been switched from Italian to English afterwards tho.

    Regards,
    Dan

Is the Ref, number on original paperwork belonging to the watch?

Yes, the reference number on the IWC Guarantee card says IW371337, and case number 2954977. Also say on it that it's sold new from Richemont Hellas in Athens in september 2009.

    Dan

But maybe that can be a fake? How common is it really to exchange the day ring?

I have asked if he knows the history in the watch, since it has english date. Hopefully it seems ok!

I believe I have read in previous posts in this Forum that IWC do not make such changes as this would invalidate (if that's the right term) the Reference numbering system, but I can't be sure of that.
I once had a bezel changed on a Rolex GMT from red/blue to all black and that was at the main service centre in Geneva.

If IWC don't make these changes this could mean something is wrong/faked with the watch. But surely IWC would exchange a date ring from Italian to English at a service center, wouldnt they? If not on a new/unsold watch but on a sold/used one. Or am I not thinking of something?:) (maybe I'm trying to convince myself there are no problems because I really want the watch to be real/problemless so i can buy it)

    Regards,
    Dan

I still haven't decided wether to buy it ir not. Would it be "wrong" to buy a IWC where the date ring has been replaced, since it's not "original" anymore?

Perhaps it would be better to look for another one that is fully in accordance with the Reference number. That way there should be no problems with IWC servicing it.
