Hi everyone,
I have the opportunity to acquire an IWC watch from around 1955 for a very low price. While I am not particularly into vintage watches, I am considering this purchase and would appreciate some advice.
The watch has been examined by a professional watchmaker who confirmed that it is repairable, but he did not provide any further details. Based on my research, I believe the watch houses an IWC calibre 8521 movement.
Given that I am not familiar with vintage watch restoration, I am looking for guidance on whether this project is feasible for someone with limited experience. Specifically, I would like to know:
1. The typical challenges involved in restoring a watch of this age and calibre.
2. Any recommendations for resources or professionals who specialize in vintage IWC watches.
3. An estimate of the potential costs associated with the restoration.
Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!
Best regards,
JT
