Hello everyone-I currently own a Portuguese 5001-07 and I have fully enjoyed it and I typically wear it everyday for work with my suits. At this time, I am looking for a more casual sporty watch. I know I am starting this discussion on the IWC forum but hopefully I can get some unbiased advice. I really like the look of the IWC Galapagos Islands Aquatimer however I have been looking more closely at the Jacques Cousteau but I have having no luck looking for "real" wristshots. I don't know if the dial is too busy for me with it being slate grey and blue chrono with a black bezel or does it look awesome. If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it very much. Further, I am also looking at the Panerai 177 in titanium, the Breitling Super Ocean 44mm with a black dial and the JLC Master Compressor Diver. I know the JLC is near double most of these watches but in terms of looks etc etc I would enjoy anyones advice/help. Thanks in advance and have a great weekend everyone!

    Hey Lindy..

    Both awesome AT's !!

My vote would go for the Cousteau because IMO the dial color combo with it's polished steel case is very cool. It really gives the AT a more elegant look for a definite "Sporty" watch. I tried one on a few weeks back at my AD and was very impressed.

Having a AT2000 white dial, I wanted another AT. Another option you might consider for a "Sporty" AT, is what I've ordered. A "Vintage Collection" AT. Comes in variations. I just think it is so unique and classy (sorry for the biased).

Have fun deciding. Let us know the outcome.

    Best,

    Andy

I agree with Andy on this. Of the choices you list, I'd go with the Cousteau or the JLC but given the price difference it's not a fair fight. Like Andy, I'm waiting for a VC AT and would take that over the Cousteau but then classic looks are what I like. In the end, you have to choose the watch that speaks to you.
