IWC was a sponsor at the WatchTime event in San Francisco last night. I would estimate that about 150 collectors attended. As expected, there was a lot of interest in IWC's novelties, especially the Aquatimer and Ingenieur models.

A quick shot of the IWC table during set-up:

But what more interesting was what was on the table:

And trying on some of the models is always fun:

Jeff Kingston gave a 90 minute presentation on new models from the Basel Fair and SIHH, and IWC was prominently featured at the beginning. He included a film clip of an interview with Stefan Ihnen of IWC.

Here Jeff (right) is shown talking to the legendary --and perhaps reculsive-- watch expert Walt Odets (left):

I didn't take more photos because I was busy showing and talking about the new models. Life is tough but I guess someboday has to do it ;)

    Regards,
    Michael

Thanks for the report. I will have to wait>>>

until September to see the WatchTime / Jeff Kingston presentation in Philadelphia.

I hope Walt Odets comes back into the watch Forum world with more of his great articles. Many of his old posts are still valuable tools for beginners to learn about the internal workings of mechanical watches.

As usual, great showing by IWC

There were a lot of people in front of the IWC booth. I felt like I was in the Tokyo subway in my attempt to see the new collection! It was worth the wait. It was great to see the other SF Bay Area Forum members as well however I see these guys all time! The highlight for me was seeing MF’s PRT—to say that is a great watch is an understatement.

If you get a chance to go to this event, it is well worth it. Jeff Kingston gives you a lot of insight into the mechanical aspects of the watches that we have on our wrists. He manages to interview some of the key people in the watch industry. I always learn so much at these showing—for example, the difference between the functional aspects of the Deep One vs. The Deep Two. BTW, IWC is the first brand covered in Jeff’s presentation. I don’t think this is a coincidence. : )

    Cheers, George

    Drool Factor: Those Big Inges

    Michael and all,

I took a beeline to the IWC display as soon as I walked in. Number one on my hit parade was the Plastiki, but my eye was quickly diverted away by the new Big Inge Chrono! What a looker that watch is.

I felt like a kid in a candy store. What to look at first? The Big Inges, the new Aquatimers, the new DaVinci's....oh my, and still I needed to be polite and make eye contact with our hosts, Michael, Lisa and Ruth, who were a doing a magnificent job of keeping their eyes on the watches, while answering numerous questions.

To see that many novelties together in 2 boxes just guaranteed me a sleepless night. "Which one should I get first!!!!"

Thanks for a wonderful evening. And those super photographs!

    All my best,
    Larry
