Has anyone ever actually seen this watch? Does it even exist?

    Franz's Fliegeruhr website has it:

    www.fliegeruhr.ch/gf_wempe_platin_2012.htm

But apart from his site and the solitary photo (scan of a magazine?) there is absolutely no information on the internet about this watch. I can't even find an IWC Reference number for it.

Could it be possible that it was planned to be released but was perhaps cancelled?

If anyone can shed some light on this model, it would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi,

Please go to the search function --the magnifying glass on the top right. Put in the words Wempe Big Pilot, and you'll find about a dozen posts. At least one forum member here has one.

Thanks for the reply. My apologies, I was completely oblivious to the search function.

Why does the Wempe seem to be the only limited edition Big Pilot that has no 'official' picture? You know the one I'm talking about. The type of photo that Franz uses for about 95% of the photos on his site.

There just doesn't seem to be any official literature on that particular model and I'm curious why.

Also... any particular reason Franz has stopped updating his site? :(

I'm led to believe that the owner of the fliegeruhr website wants to sell the it off, which is a pity, because it's very informative about all things pertaining to pilot watches.

It is one of my favourite BP's and reminds me a lot of the CF3.

    Dear THMPR

…. I once had the honor to try the Wempe on my wrist - IMO the most beautiful BP …

… and here one more with the Pilot´s family between CF3 and Saint Ex Chrono:

Glad to see them come out of hiding!

Really appreciate all of you joining in on the conversation. Honestly, up until now, I had thought the Wempe LE was a myth. Perpetuated by the fact it's the only Big Pilot on Franz's site that has a (comparatively) low-quality photo and is very low on details.

Does the Wempe have a reference number? I know a few of the Big Pilot's are just simply referred to as 5004XX but most of them have them. Would be nice to add all this info to my own little database :)

...I don't suppose any of them are for sale?
