    Evening all!

I acquired this piece a number of years ago and curiosity has finally got the better of me -

I wonder if anyone could tell me, or point me in the right direction to find, more info on the watch. I've heard it may be possible to get a 'birth certificate' detailing the selling dealer and date etc. It was onced owned by a relative of mine and I'm keen to find out more.

    The movement is marked: 1510415,

    The case is marked: 1513025

    Thanks in advance,

    Ben

    According to DateYourIWC,

The movement is a calibre 853, dating from the year 1959.
The case was most probably produced resp. delivered around 1960.

    I hope this helps.

    Much obliged!

Forgive my ignorance but is it normal to have a movement and case made/delivered a year or so apart? And did I hear correctly it is possible for me to obtain the original sales record via IWC or is that unlikely?

    Thanks,

    Ben

Ben, yes --the watches were "cased up" frequently some time after the movement was produced, which often would be a year or two later.

It is possible to get an "Extract from the Archives" but they are now very costly and essentially supply the same information, plus the model number (which usually is the number on the case back inside) and the first retailer. I would need to search our archives for details, but you can do so via the magnifying glass on the upper right.
