    Thang showed this picture.

This IWC Connect feature looks quite small, what else to expect when it sits on the strap. Has IWC revealed at SIHH what it does? As I don't see a display area, I suppose it connects to a smartphone or tablet for that function, or?

    Kind regards,
    Paul

I would imagine it has been abandoned in its current format... not a very effective idea.

Well, I think IWC will not give this up so quickly, and the picture shown doesn't suggest this. However, ICT often proves to be quite tenacious in not giving you what you want when you want it. IWC chose a small partner to do this project, see the announcement in May 2015. In September it was said here that in December or at SIHH there would be more news. Although mainly interested in mechanical watches - the Big Pilot shown with the IWC Connect feature was the most exciting part of the announcement for me - also the developments to make sure to stay in touch and in business interest me. In this case: exactly what information is connected to what, and where does that information come from. The device shown is very small: what makes it watch connected, other than that it may prevent users to buy a smart watch instead of a beautiful IWC watch. The whole Internet of Things is growing big no doubt the next few years, being there is important, so it is too early to state that from postponement comes cancellation.

I wonder whether IWC announced something about IWC Connect, I guess we would have learned here something about it if IWC had done so, but during presentations or drinks some questions about it might have been answered, I was just curious.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

Hello Paul, I was told that launch would be around spring this year, available in boutiques. I guess more info will be around at that time. It connects indeed to a Phone and to the internet of things. I saw a demonstration and I like it. There are some clever ideas behind this accessory.

This is a very interesting concept and differentiates well from the currently existing concepts available. Like Tonny I was privileged to see some features and hear about them behind closed doors. There is no question that this concept will reach market and will not be abandoned as forum member "CHRONOGRAPHY" suggests. I am looking forward to Spring to try out some of the features

I really do hope IWC Connect caters for 2-way communication, i.e. not just taking basic activity or health data from the wearer of the timepiece, but the ability to send haptic feedback from a mobile phone as a form of notification.

If the above is achieved, an IWC Connect strap would do more for me than a lifetime of Apple Watch upgrades.

Has anyone got any further info on this? It's interesting to see that Fitbit are outselling iPhone watches, and that pebble have been shut down.

The most interesting smartwatch I've seen is the Casio, which allows bluetooth connection to the solar powered watch, but doesn't bother with notifications.

I cant understand why anyone would want notifications on their watch...

About a month ago this explanation gave the information you want.

    Kind regards,
