    Gentlemen

A model that recently catched my eye is the IWC GST Perpetual Calendar. It looks both sporty and elegant, and the cost seems to be low for a perpetual calendar model. The only problem, of course is that is discontionued, so I have to buy it second hand.
I have been searching this forum, but have only found three entries so far, one from 2002, one from 2005, and a very recent one with with an alternitive mode of lubrication...

I have a question about the quality of this model. What are your experiences of it? How is the quality compared with other IWC perpetual calendar models? Have you encountered any problems with this model?
And what are the pros and cons with perpetual calendar watches?

I have owned this watch since 2002...

    Pichao -

It is a great watch - I have owned mine since MAY 2002 - it was my first IWC Perpetual Calendar. No issues with mine at all. It went in for basic service after 5+ years and I had the case and bracelet polished.

This is great value you are getting in this watch - as the movement and calendar module are essentially the same you get in the DaVinci Perpetual - and Grand Complication (with exception of the minute repeater module). The bracelet is so comfortable, and the watch is attractive.

I have a steel model - but have been thinking of adding a Ti one too - because it is so fabulous.

    Thank you Richard
The watch I am interested in is actually from 2002 in steel, with a salmon coloured dial. It looks great! The only thing I m a bit concerned about is the size, I am not used to watches that large...

Hi, the quality is great and....

....it is my most accurate IWC I own(ed)!

I also bought a used model (Italian version), in great condition, but I still had it serviced by IWC. Ok, full overhaul costs around €700, but than you're done again for the next 5-10 years and you get 2 year guarantee! I also just like the idea of having my watches in perfect state.

It sure is big (and heavy in steel), but "everything is relative" in life! I first put a Titanium one on my wrist in 2007 and thought: this thing is incredibly hugeI have rather small wrists.
I must say, I'm perfectly ok now and even think I can wear the Big Pilot ;-) (which I thought looked totally silly on my wrist 5 years ago, really!!!!).

    You won't regret this one!

    Regards,

    Bob

If you are thinking about a Perpetual GST...

I would go for the Titanium version: black dial with yellow marks. It is stunning beutiful. I love the massive a rugged titanium cases of the ATs, similar to the GST. Quality is not the problem with IWC but budget could be!

If I find a Perpetual titanium GTS brand new and have the money I would go for it, no doubt.

    Good luck,
    M

It is a winner! Titanium suits this model.

If you are thinking about a Perpetual GST...

Thank you all, gentlemen for your friendly advice. The only thing that misses now is money. But before the end of this year I surely will by an IWC, used or unused.

In order to achieve that I obviously have to spend less money on art, design and bespoke clothing. But I am sure it is worth the sacrifice!

    Its a great watch!

When I consider the wrist time it has, its the favorite, especially compared to the 5022.

Try it with the rubber band?
