The checker dial is really great. congrats to have this good hunt with a complete set of accessories.

Interstingly, the new book does not show this dial and handset, a white rectangular around date, without "T" marking, different shape of hand.

    Cheers

    Thank you,

a couple of images taken from the catalogues show the same dial, with same hands and "graced" T, it's the most common version I've seen although I think some dial variations are acceptable, as long the "T Swiss T" is present.

The most common hybridization, furniture dials apart, happened to encounter in my personal research was the substitution of the original hands with hands for quartz references, which are in same cases thinner, not mentioning the different second hand. But this is just my exeperience.

What a terrific watch, Roberto! As I look at your fine pictures and my own 3227, I amazed how long the 1832 DNA has lived and how well it transferred!

Just a wonderful find. Congratulations on your marvelous acquisition.

Nice find and wear in good health. Does this predate the Ingie that had official certified chronometer on the dial?

    Greg, thank you.

Considering just mechanical wrist-watches and time-only, there would be still another reference in the middle.

This renown and helpful site, made also by a man I hope I can consider my friend, Larry Seiden, may come to aid:

    moeb.ch/Ingenieur/Index_e.html

I post directly the link since it seems the forum web application deters myself from using the hyperlink feature.

Err, Roberto, Larry Sieden co-authored an extensive article about dial variations in vinatge Ingenieurs, but the link you gave was done by Marco Schoenenberger.

You're right Michael, I liked the idea to mention Larry but with no intention to diminish the main effort of Marco Schoenenberger; Larry but also you, Greg etc. is mentioned by MS himself in the credits note.

    My apologies :)

Your are correct and your 1832 is absolutely beautiful.

I thought the background of your last two photos on this initial thread is the recent issue of IWC book that contains a page showing the 1832 in different details. Cheers

You're right, that background comes from a page of the latest IWC book. I've never seen a waffle dial with the white framed date, live, just quartz pieces, while I saw an automatic with this peculiarity through a picture sent me by a friend of mine but it was a plain dial.

I opened the huge book and took a quick photo showing the difference I mentioned. Wonder two types of details or the book just using a touched photos when compared with the photos shown in the old catalog.

Very interesting, thank you for contributing!

I took the liberty to use your picture (btw, great exemplar you have, congratulations) to emphasize the difference between the dials, the one depicted in the book has the logo printed in a different position compared to the other one.

    i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm101/flyrobyfly/8dbd0e0d.jpg

My inge has the logo sitting the same way than yours.

You are great, you tried the horizontal, equip with a eagle eye to try the middle line along vertical, you will see ...the difference between the photo exhibited in the book and our watches and the old catalog. Have a happy new year!

You're too generous with me, I humbly thank you.

Actually, there's another interesting "discovery" made by a friend collector of mine about the waffle dial, he found different positioning of the logo, he ascribes this difference to (and this is the small discovery) different batches, produced in different times. I might add something in the future about this, I just need some time to write the results of my researches down.

I heartily wish you a Happy New Year!
