As the IWC CEO stated: “This collaboration will enable IWC Schaffhausen to intensify its research and development efforts for watches that are tested for spaceflight. During future long‑duration space missions, a mechanical watch showing Earth time can also be the object that emotionally connects the astronauts to their home.”

Haven‑1 will be the world’s first commercial space station
Haven‑1, targeted to launch in 2027, is a state‑of‑the‑art, human‑centric space station and home to an innovation lab for both private astronauts and government missions.

Before the launch of the space station, there will be several test flights to evaluate materials, procedures, and early scientific research. One of these studies will examine the effects of space travel on the human body, especially for people aged 60+.

Here is the big news: I will go into space ; as a partner of Vast, IWC considered the fact that I am 60 years old, an IWC ambassador, and have been moderating the forum for 10 years. This could become a world first — moderating the forum from outer space.
I will undergo a six‑month training period to prepare for my spaceflight, in collaboration with a Belgian university.

Timing is everything, so exactly one year from today — April 1st, 2027 — I will make my first post from space, with an IWC on my wrist.
