Hello, to all from a newbie to this forum. I have just bought a beautiful IWC Portofino Chronograph Ref. 3724 01 from 2004 and I have got two questions. First, is there any way to get a copy of a manual to this particular watch? Second, this watch does not have the quick set date function, does it? Or was I doing something wrong when I was adjusting the date and could find only one position of the crown? Thanks.

Welcome and sorry - I cannot help you with a manual or instructions on setting the watch. I can, however, congratulate you on a beautiful acquisition. I've always admired that dial - enjoy!

Thanks Ben! If I knew how to add a picture from my desktop (how do I insert an URL of a picture in my computer?) I would upload a wristshot.

That's a pretty Portofino with the very fine IWC/JLC Mecaquartz movement.
I had a 3741 for a short time long long ago (I want to get it back now!)

If memory serves, it should have a quick set date. The first pull of the crown should stop the movement and change date. Second stop should change the time.

Maybe the crown is stiff, requires some effort and is coming to rest in the second position and missing first position altogether? Try a gentle pull and see what happens. Let us know what you find.

    Dear Mark,
the crown moves easily but at the first position already the movement stops and the time changes. There seems to be no second positio at all...

Thanks to the kindness of Greg Steer, I have obtained a copy of the portions of 2004 IWC Catalogue pertaining to this model. This Portofino does not have a quick set date function.
