My wife surprised me for my 40th birthday with the 371702 Pilots. I am still in awe. It is my first IWC and love it. So I joined 2 clubs, The 40 year club and the IWC owners club :)

Happy Birthday and welcome to the IWC Club as well. You have now caught the IWC Uhren-virus for which there is no antidote. Congratulations.
Congrats on both fronts and welcome to the IWC club - I cant welcome you to the 40 club yet but I am sure others can :)
I well past 40, but the 371702 is one of my favorites. Congratulations.
Congratulations and welcome to both clubs! 40 isn't that bad with a beautiful IWC on your wrist. Wear your beautiful watch in good health and take good care of your wife too!
Kind regards,
Clemens
Special women who knows her man's heart.
Congrats on joining the two clubs. Enjoy the watch and wear in good health.
Todd
That's a beautiful watch and what a great way to join both clubs!
My introduction to IWC was similar. Alas, beware... two years on and I'm scouring this forum contemplating my next piece. The virus they speak of - it is real. :-)
Anthony.
Congratulations and Happy Birthday!
congrats, happy birthday, and enjoy your spitfire. especially on that gorgeous brown strap !
Congratulations, I think it is a beautiful watch with lovely contrasts between brushed and polished steel on the casing along with a very clear face - it is clever the way the edge of the hands are polished so they reflect and become highly legible.
Have you had a look at the 'lume' on it yet?
Graham
Congratulations, welcome to the forum and welcome to both clubs,
an excellent choice, this was my first IWC as well.
Here's to praise the lume:

Lucky guy to have such a thoughtful wife. Happy Birthday & congratulations on on your new watch. The 3717 is a forum favorite, enjoy and wear it in good health.
Regards,
Kevin
Happy birthday and welcome to the club (the IWC owners club that is... the other one is still far away for me)!!! Nice watch.
Big congratulations and welcome to the second club. I still some 2 years for the first one :o) Enjoy your watch!
Many congratulations on both counts!
I'm sure you'll enjoy being 40 for the year to come and the IWC Forum for a lot of years to come! ;-)
Cheers and welcome!
There is a Chinese saying, men at 40 is a dragon..
What a way to start with a watch that is engineered for men.
Congratulation and enjoy your lovely present.
Welcome! I recently joined both clubs as well (Spitfire club that is). Congratulations on a great watch!
WD
Congratulations on both counts, RiesJJ! I also turned 40 this year (back in September), and thus far I've gotta tell ya, it ain't a whole lot different than 39. ;-)
Like you, I also wound up with an IWC Pilot's watch as a present, though unlike you, I had to use every trick in the book to sneak it past the missus and onto my wrist.
Take good care of that lady of yours, she's a keeper!
Regards,
Adam
welcome to the club... may your first iwc be the first of very many!
best wishes,
thang
