Hello everyone, I was fortunate enough to come across this IWC movement. From
my brief research it seems to be an early Pattern B key wind. Looking for any
additional information about this watch as well as the names that are
engraved.

Wow, what a find, one of the very first IWC 's made. A number 603 is known and
has the same configuration.
Many of the movements had names inscribed on them, instead of "International
Watch Company": Greenleaf, Craig, Romney, Stuyvesant, Bradley and Burns. These
mostly were names of Jones' family members or related places. For example,
Greenleaf was Jones' brother and Craig was his mother's maiden name. Some have
speculated that these people helped Jones with his initial funding, but there
is no proof of that.
You can rea more in this informative post about Jones movements :

thank you very much for that information. So, a couple of questions: what do
you mean by 'a number 603 is known'? Itsounds like a lot of the early
movements are no longer around, and in my research I read that the movement
numbering system started with either 500 or 501, is that correct?
Indeed, very few of the numbers lower than 1000 still are known to excist. I
meant that there is another one like yours, with the serial number 603 that is
known to excist and has a similar layout ( pattern B ) as yours.
Indeed we think that the numbering started at 500.
I bought this on a hunch yesterday and don't have it in my hand yet but am
very excited to receive it after reserching last night. So being a non-
collector (although I certainly appreciate a fine watch) the question for me
to figure out is, what do I do with it....
Looks like it would love to have a service, a case and a dial. ;-)
congratulations!!!
It most definitly could use a service and a case. The dial it
has...
Great start to what promises to be a challenging yet rewarding restoration
project
It is just great to see here a very early pattern 'B' key wind Jones.
The dial you show isabsolutely a genuine typical Jones dial but the very
early 'B' Jones had another version of the Jones dials we know.
It is depicted here.
Best regards,
Adrian,
(alwaysiwc).
Found the brother, with nr 1119
Well done Tonny!
Adrian,
(alwaysiwc).
Very nice. It's a shame that both brothers are missing their cases.
These early movements were all exported to the US without a case.
Many were cased in the US , using gold and coin silver cases but some have
never be cased at all.

Adrian,

That is certainly interesting. My impression was that all of them had cases
which were later removed for their gold or silver melt value.
Wow, pocket watches are not really my thing. But what you show here is just
great and wonderful IWC history! Great!
Cheers,
Sascha
