I am just curious but why is the zero on the number '10' smaller than the other numbers on this watch?

I suspect it's just a characteristic of the font type used for those numbers (of that era). There are many fonts out there where the zero is different in order to different it from the letter 'o' (although obviously not too often in watches). Regards, Vinhthang

MF is Michael Friedberg, our Moderator.

I believe it is an homage to the famous Mark IX, the first pilot's watch from IWC.

And MF, are the initials of our esteemed (and one and only Forum Moderator), Michael Friedberg.

Bei einigen Fonts/Schriften haben die Ziffern 4,5,6 und 9 sogenannte Unterlängen. Das heißt: Sie gehen unter die Grundlinie nach unten. Deshalb sind diese Ziffern insgesamt größer als die restlichen Ziffern.

In dem letzten Foto ist die 3 deshalb auch größer als die 2.

Some fonts / fonts have the numbers 4,5,6 and 9 called descenders. That means you go down below the baseline. Therefore, these numbers are larger overall than the other digits.
