    Hi,
I am new to this forum and a new proud owner of a Portuguese Automatic 7 day power reserve which I have owned for about 1 month now.
I must say its a pretty awesome watch.
However, I have a technical question which I would like forumers to help me with. It goes as below:
I always set the minute hand pointing exactly at the minute marker (the rail-track markers along the outer dial) while the seconds hand is at 0/60 position. However, after it resumes the movement for sometime (just a few minutes), the minute hand may not point exactly at the minute marker when the seconds hand reaches the 0/60 position. I also noticed that it depends on which position the minute hand is at. Sometimes it lands accurately but sometimes it does not (Sometimes it already reached the marker position about 10 seconds before the second hand reaches the 0/60 position).
I checked with another friend who owns this watch and his is consistently pointing accurately. Is this something that I should be concerned? Can this be corrected if I send to my local repair agent?
    Thanks for any advise.

I have this with many of my watches >>

I always set the minute hand just slightly ahead of the marker and then it ends up at 0/60 after the first minute. Not sure if it is like this on the 5001 but it certainly is similar on many of my watches.

    Nicky,
    Thanks for your reply.
I set mine with the minute hand slightly before the markers (abt 5secs). However even with this trick, i noticed that the minute hand may not always land precisely on the markers. At some positions, it is precise and at some, it is off by about 5secs.
But hearing that you find this on many of your watches at least brings me some relief. So it seems that its normal for many watches to behave this way....

Hi Alan, big congrats on the Portuguese > > >

Whenever I set the time with the seconds hand 'hacked at the 12 position, I move the minute hand slightly ahead of the desired minute marker, and then slowly move it backwards to align it to the appropriate minute marker.

I found that when I advance the minute hand to the desired position directly, I would have the same problem, but moving it slightly backwards seems to "take out the slack", if I can describe it this way.

    I hope this helps.

    Cheers!

    Same with mine..

Hi Alan, congrats on your 5001 purchase. Mine also does not hit the minute marker until 10 seconds after the minute has passed and I had thought about asking my AD about this. I will try Nad's top tip and see how that goes.
    Thanks again to Nad.
    Darren.

    hello Nad and Darren,
    thanks for your feedback.
By the way, do you guys notice that it is sometimes more accurate at certain minute positions and less accurate at others? For eg, between 0 - 15 positions it is more accurate and at 60 - 45 it is less accurate?
I attribute this to the run-out errors of the rotating parts such as the gears, shafts etc but just wanna check with other IWC owners if this is a common problem.

sorry about the typo error... what i meant to say in the previous posting is at 30 - 45 minute positions, it is less accurate.
