He left IWC hurriedly in 1876
After a factory expansion in 1875, IWC's first bankruptcy occurred in 1876 and Jones returned to America. IWC was rescued in 1876 by the Schaffhausen Handelsbank and another American, Ferdinand F. Seeland (who only spoke English), was appointed as manager.
Little is known about Jones after 1876. He apparently left the watch industry and lived in New York and Massachusetts. If I recall, he was an inventor and there were some non-watch mechanical appartus patents issued in his name. He died in 1916.
