Three years ago today, I posted my first entry on the IWC forum…and it is my Forum birthday! It was another interesting year as a participant of the IWC Forum!:
    • The Portofino novelties were introduced at SIHH with commensurate reports and photos from our members who attended our 10th Anniversary Geneva GTG
    • The IWC Collectors’ Forum received a complete ‘makeover’
    • The IWC Collectors’ Forum had unprecedented membership growth and a return of many original participants

Although my collection remained static this year, I did have some notable IWC "moments" in 2011:
    SOTC 2011
    i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt44/ahaujim/042.jpg
Dorothy and I escaped the driest Texas summer recorded to our nearest 'piece' of the Netherlands...Aruba!
    i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt44/ahaujim/IMG_3202.jpg
The highpoint of the year was facilitated by one of our most esteemed members, who made it possible for Ms. D and I to attend a wonderful GTG around the WatchTime event in Philadelphia...BillB!
    i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt44/ahaujim/887.jpg
    It was opportunity for me to see MF again and meet Forum members (face-to-face) Alan, Whichwatch, Smog, BrainDoc, MaryB (Bill's wonderful wife), Docfink, and KevinJ. We had a wonderful dinner;
    i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt44/ahaujim/911.jpg
    i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt44/ahaujim/910.jpg
    i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt44/ahaujim/917.jpg
and of course incredible watches, watches and more watches!
    i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt44/ahaujim/913.jpg
    i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt44/ahaujim/916.jpg
    i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt44/ahaujim/914.jpg
I also had the good fortune to avail myself of Bill's professional photography and come home with some images of two of my favorite IWC's that far exceeded any of my struggling efforts!

The Philadelphia trip ended up being an apt precursor to another event a week later.

Dorothy was sworn in a week later as a US Citizen!!!

I will end this 'anniversary' greeting with an unabashedly effusive sentiment...the IWC Collectors' Forum is a great community with whom I am honored to mark another year. Thanks Michael for making it happen and thanks to all of you for all you contribute!

Wonderful chronology of your 2011 year with all of us here on the forum. It was a privilege to meet you and Dorothy here in Philadelphia. She will be / is a great US citizen. She knew more than most Americans on the historic places here in the cradle of liberty.

As to your IWC's, you clearly have a bad IWC uhren-virus infection. So, what's next on your wish list?

Jim, That is one great summary! While I've never met you (YET), I can tell, it will be a great pleasure when that does happen.

Keep enjoying our hobby and our IWC friends!

Happy Anniversary, Jim. It was a pleasure to meet you and Dorothy in Philadelphia. That trip was one of the 2011 IWC highlights for me.

At the time I didn't realize Dorothy was not-yet-but-about-to-become a US citizen. Congratulations to you both on that happy event!

Maybe we can all meet up again in 2012?

    Bill,
Without having seen but one of the new pilots, my list (right now) focuses either on a 5002 Transitional or 500107. I keep seeing your BP when I close my eyes! LOL!

Great post Jim and super pictures to boot.

Looking forward to your reveal - whenever that might be. No hurry...all good things like a good red wine need their time.

    Best regards

Jim - thanks for sharing your incredible year. Reading your posts gave me an exhilarating thrill - watches are fantastic but still number second to loved ones, people and community.
