Dear all
I have just turned 40 and for my birthday, my wife gave me a 2009 IWC Aquatimer Chrono, which i have always loved and appreciated. The gift was totally unexpected and caught me by surprise. I have to admit that product placement techniques worked fine with me: this timepiece can be spotted in a popular TV series :-)
The watch was used but actually it was never worn, and came complete with box , papers and even the cloth. It was in outstanding conditions. So a great deal.
I am very happy and satisfied with this watch, which is extremely accurate and easy to read in the dark. In my experience, this is one of the most luminous watches ever.
The chrono is one of the most desired features in a man's watch; finally the luminous rotating bezel covered with a sapphire glass is amazing.
Technically, the Aquatimer is a divers' watch (even though the case is not engraved with any water resistance specifications) but I don't think i will ever dive with it. I'd rather scratch or damage a 200 $ Seiko while loading the air tanks on the boat.
On the cons' side, I basically agree with what I read on many wirstwatches websites:
- the movement (based on the ubiquitous 7750) is reliable but not adequate with the price tag. I would expect something more or different considering the price.
- the bracelet's quick lock system may be effective but gives no chances to replace the stock rubber band with a generic band or steel bracelet;
- the original bracelets and straps are really too expensive. Honestly a nonsense, specially for the rubber band.
Regards
Walter
