First, congratulations on your 5001, an iconic IWC and beloved by all. Second, welcome to the IWC Collector's Forum where you will find a great group of knowledgeable collector's.
When you have time, post a picture of your new 5001 for all to admire.
hi
i am new to the site how do i upload the pics?
If you search the archives you will find replies to this question. But to give a short answer:
Upload your jpeg pictures to a host such as Photobucket. Once the picture is downloaded copy the code in the IMG Code box in Photobucket which will be under your photo. Simply paste that code directly into this message box. Before you post the reply, preview your post my clicking on the preview icon at the top of the message section.
Good luck, it's easy.
Hi James,
Welcome & congrats on the 5001, you're going to love it!!!!
Which dial variation did you get?
Mine is the 5001-07, but they are all nice:

James, congrats and welcome to the forum.
Great choice indeed and you'll enjoy wearing it for a long time.
The 5001 was my first IWC - here is an old shot:
Cheers,
Evan
James, as others are posting pics of their 5001, here is mine which was my first IWC. It will never leave my collection. The 5001, regardless of the metal, is stunning.

The 5001 is a classic and one of the most elegant watches in the stable (although I hear other roar out there, at my remark here).
It's a great movement and fine watch - enjoy....
Great movement, great look, great watch, unique.
Congratulations, wear it in good healt.

Regards,
Roberto
A true icon and a keeper :

Enjoy yours!
Jean
To me, the 5001 is the quintessential Portuguese. At first glance, it is simple, straightforward and unassuming. Yet upon closer inspection, it is impeccably neat, tack sharp and utterly mesmerising. And it has the ingenious Pellaton winding system, which makes it definitively IWC.
It's a beautiful watch, I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

Edit: corrected image link.
This is my 5001. I bought it last year for our 10 years wedding anniversary. What a co-incidence, my wife picked a Piaget that is also a Richemont company
PS: this is my first post with the new forum interface. Hopefully, the picture can display well.

Hope this works, here's mine which my wife gave to me:
