    Hi All

This is my first post about my first IWC. IWC had always been a dream watch brand since I was a kid. To me, it's a brand that is well known enough to the watch community but may not be as well known to the general public like a Rolex. It is elegant and strong in its style language, certainly with the Pilot range which is the range I always associated IWC with.

Fast forward a few years to 2014, I was in a position to purchase my first IWC. I walked into an AD in Sydney Australia determined to get the current Big Pilot. However, after trying it on, I just knew that I couldn't make that watch work with my wrist size. It was just too big for me. Although, I really wanted to buy it but in my heart of hearts I knew I wouldn't wear it much if it's going to stick out like a sore thumb, a really good looking and expensive sore thumb at that! I then came across this beauty and after trying it on I just knew. Anyhow, rather than boring you with more of my story, here are some of the pictures. By the way, after having it for 2 months, I decided to change the original brown strap to an IWC dark blue croc strap. Let me know which one do you like better. Thanks and enjoy!!!

    Then it was blue.

It looks great on either strap! I really like it on the brown, which provides a nice contrast. I think it would also look great on the superb IWC bracelet.

    Enjoy your wonderful IWC!

Welcome to the forum. Wonderful story and a beautiful first IWC. I would go 51 to 49% for the blue strap ;-)!

Thanks for sharing. Enjoy wearing it.

    Merry Christmas

First of all, a big congrats to your first IWC, I am very sure it won't be long before you get a second one.

The blue strap makes it more dressier than the calf strap and it will gets bluer after a few months later.

Welcome! And a very cool first up purchase. I think both straps look great so you can just chop and change depending on how you feel. I bought the same strap for my YC, looks great.

    Cheers,

    Jarrod

Welcome to the forum. Congratulations on your new Blue Dial IWC, it's a beautiful piece and I'm sure you will enjoy it. As to your question, I considered the blue strap but in the end (for now) I chose to stay with the calf strap. Once again congrats and enjoy.

Welcome to the Forum and to the IWC family! That is a very nice introductory piece - sporty and functional with a gorgeous blue hue.
I really like matching colors so for me it will have to be the blue strap.

Thank you all for your kind words.... I'm sure this wouldn't be my last IWC. 2015 might bring me Portuguese 8 days reserve. Who knows?!?

That would be a great sequel: having to start all over again, that would be my dressy watch. Still, waiting and seeing what the new collection of 2015 brings would be a wise idea, though the 8 Days Handwound is difficult to beat.

    Kind regards,
    Paul
