Just one week ago i got my new Inge (Thanks Shing for showing at the SIHH)
and i was so proud and went very happy home to show it to my wife.

She take a look and decided to wear it for just one moment.

Now it is 14 days ago and she won`t give the watch back to me but she will do another dings so that i am happy.

    So what shall I do.
Take the watch back ? Buy another one ? Take a look to another wife ?

Here one picture from better times on my wrist.

Changing your wife has a few drawbacks as the replacement may not be sympathetic to buying more than one watch or worse still she may love the idea of borrowing all and any watch by commandeering them.
Ask wife number one if you have to buy the watch again for yourself since she has commandeered it.
Warning though this question can result in foul weather and a deep depression that takes forever to go only when a new equally expensive article arrives. Large flawless diamonds of good colour and cut seem to be universally appreciated! Best of luck, it's not going to be cheap.

    Aloha Arne -

I suggest that you purchase the stainless Father & Son Big Pilot set and let your wife wear the Mark XVI "son" - the two of you would look great together!

In the meantime, I'd let her wear the titanium Inge - there are a lot more expensive IWC watches that she could ask for so you are getting off light.

PS: Please don't let her wear your Big Pilot Perpetual in case I decide to buy it someday.

I think this is a stroke of luck indeed.
Think of how many men wish it this way:
You got a happy wife with a fine watch on her wrist worthy of you - willing to make you happy.
And you got the perfect reason to buy the next IWC.
Choose it together with her - may be she will take the new one and you`ll get back your beloved Inge. You can share the passion for IWC watches with her.
Hey - you are a lucky man! :-)))

    Regards, Lutz

And... as to your little predicament, I can only suggest this solution -- Two Can Be Better Than One !!!

Your wife did you a favor. Let her keep it, and now buy a real Ingenieur.

Arne, I suggest you buy another IWC. Someday when she's tired of your ingenieur, you will have it back. Trust me, as much as she likes the watch, women are the most fickle-minded creatures.

She just gave you a perfect excuse to buy another watch, LOL!!!!!!!!!!

I subscribe to the notion "Happy wife, Happy life", so let her wear it and enjoy the peace and quiet, hahaha!

    Arne,

Great story. Not what I expected from your post heading.
I think it's good. If my wife took one of my watches she would probably hide it from me. LOL

Alan if your wife took and hid a blue IWC, just how serious would the situation get!

Hmm, difficult question. I guess I'm getting of easy here, my wife only borrows my Breiting B-1 when she gives Zumba trainings and she never touches my IWC's :-)

    Kind regards,

    Clemens

Arne, tell her no matter how tough it is on you....that you want her to keep it.

Be sure to tell her time and time again, how good it looks on her wrist (..and I am sure it does!). Tell her, that it would break your heart to take it back!

And you should do all these things, both because such a woman is special and deserves to have such a watch - as well as the fact you can go out and get another IWC to replace it. And as others suggest - don't take the same watch again. You never know when your Mrs. might decided she needs a new watch and the one on her wrist right now, becomes available again.

    Got to love that woman!

    Best regards
    Mark

so your wife likes IWC, she likes the dark dial of your ingenieur, so i've got a solution... just buy her this below and i'm SURE you'll get your watch back!

(okay maybe slightly more expensive than your ingenieur, but i'm sure she deserves it!...)

    good luck!
