Need help identifying this IWC watch

Hi,

First of all, I would like to say that I'm a proud owner of a Portuguese IW500107 since December 2013. I've also been diligently reading the forum post almost daily and I marvel at the amount of knowledge here.

I just came across an old IWC and have the opportunity to purchase it but I need help identifying it first. I would be grateful if someone can help identify this watch. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
looks to me as a ref 1818 (1818A) equipped with cal 8541B.

If the seller has the correct tools ask him to open the back and photograph the movement number and the inside of the back which should have a reference number. These will give the information you need.

Your watch looks very much the same a mine. And I have always belived this to be a ref 1818.

From around 1971/2/3 I guess with a calibre 8541.
I don't think it is very valuable in monetary terms at the moment as they seem to be undervalued and there are quite a lot about.
That of course is a good thing if you want to buy and enjoy wearing it.
Maybe not if you want to buy and store and then sell.
They are excellent movements.
