Great article. It is amazing how numerous and complicated the processes can be to produce the parts for our gems.

I always wondered (and still do) how IWC gets the lovely grainy texture on the white Portuguese dials.

Great article, but, I'm a bit confused.... The article is written as if IWC themselves are making the dials ... It was my understanding that IWC outsources this process? Would love some clarity here.

IWC outsources dials to its specifications and works with the suppliers. The one exception is the star chart on the back of the Sidérale Scafusia, which is done in-house.

Great article but leaves me with questions also. I would love to know more about how certain dials and finishes are created; it gives me a whole new appreciation.

Very interesting article, thank you! It is nice to know how much effort is put into the dials: I really appreciate the watches even more, the whole being more than the sum of all the high quality parts.
