I was in New York again today and lucked out as three new pieces had recently arrived. I'll let you be the judge but the AMG Ingenieur Chrono blew me away. Taken with my iPhone so not the best photos.

Thanks for the pictures Alan - everyone here is really starting to work up my interest - I have a trip planned for middle of next month to NY and will definitely be visiting the Boutique - hopefully that sensation AMG is still there!

    Cheers,

    Ben

I think they had two AMG's ... and both were on hold for others! I really was lucky to be there today.

Lets just hope at least one of them doesn't get picked up before I get there so I can have a look :)

Nothing better than seeing a new edition in the metal. Pictures never do the justice they deserve.

I really like the carbon fiber dial, it produces such depth. I had the pleasure of trying on the Portugeuse YC Volvo with the carbon dial the other week and it was hypnotic. I can only imagine the AMG being the same.

My only hope would be that the AMG and any future carbon dial models have better "readability" than the Volvo edition. The contrast between the markers and carbon dial makes for a difficult viewing especially outdoors. Just a observation and opinion. Comments welcome.

Looking forward to what the IWC/AMG partnership produces in 20(13). I've got a feeling it's going to be a very lucky year for many.

    Andy

    Big thanks, Alan!

I finally see a photo of the elusive Inge AMG in "real life" condition, it really looks amazing!

The brown dial is very appealing, it winks to vintage fashion a little but its beauty it's indisputable - imo.

The AMG sincerely, at least through the pictures, leaves me a little indifferent.

    Thanks for the report Alan!

    Roberto,
I think your opinion is very instructive. My belief is that these two watches are like a litmus test. If, like you, the vintage, smaller and clean dial timepiece is desirable, then you will fall in love with the brown dial Inge.
If, like me, you like a big dial, modern, more techy looking watch then the AMG Inge will thrill you. ( Tony...don't even look at either one...open back).

I guess there is something for everyone. But the point I am trying to make is that IWC is producing new models for the Ingenieur that span both ends of the continuum.

I had to search for the meaning of litmus... LOL!

    Hi Alan,

Agree. The more I see, the more I believe IWC designs are really between the best if not the best of all.

Put a soft iron cage behind that pander brown dial and I'll buy it now! LOL!

    Nonetheless the 44mm! LOL!

Just to say (seriously now) to me, the watch is really appealing, I'd just need an extra lift given by IWC engineering to complete the decisional process.

I prefer the brown dial Ingenieur...but that AMG really looks good on your wrist, Alan! I'm with my esteemed friend Roberto, about including a soft iron cage to add to the "Brown's" allure!!!!

Thanks for sharing this with us, Alan. I'm hoping that I can get over to the boutique to see the AMGs before they wing their way to their new owners, but if not, at least I got to see your real world shots.

As for the VC Inge, after the Laureus, that has to be my favorite version. IWC really nailed it with that dial.

    Regards,
    Adam

AMG looks like a winner. Will there eventually be more? Or is it a LE. I don't recall.

It is one of 145. Only 100 for the boutiques. My guess is that it will be tough to get one.

BTW, welcome back from Germany...quick turnaround!!

Hi Allen, as you might know, I own a Ingenieur Automatic AMG CLS 55. Didn't know there was a new AMG. As I understand this is a AMG Chrono in Steel, while as far as I know, the former AMG only came in titanium, and the automatic version with a 80110 calibre and soft inner case. With a black dial. So..... lots of changes? Why? Nevertheless.... Wow, I like it. Carbon dial, like the volvo edition Potuguese....

Thank you for the report, details and especially the pictures. The new Inge AMG looks interesting, I would really like to see one in real life. The vintage style Inge is a great looking watch but for me it would be better with a soft iron inner case.

    Kind regards,

    Clemens

Thanks for the picture of the new Saint-Exupéry in SS. It looks even better than the formal product images suggest. What did you think of it?

I liked it. I especially liked the case back. I still miss the big "A" on the dial. If you like the St. Ex line you will like this one.

this is finally sighted too ! it is one of my favorites this year. a Cal 89361 in a pilot case - a first I believe ? I especially like the biege-d subcounters, although the one I saw thus far has been the red gold version.
