Here's what Museum curator Dr. David Seyffer wrote me, with a few edits:

    i1139.photobucket.com/albums/n558/michaelfriedberg/561c676bb3521e4a492e418bbc8f79d9_zpsc3955106.jpg

The presentation of Mark Levinsohn's "black 22” in the Museum was a huge success. (please see www.iwc.com/forum/en/discussion/58246/ )

Now after more than a year we present a new watch in the museum. We show the watch of Heiko Bertram (Hebe), a black ocean 2000.

Above is a scan of the watch as shown in “Die Uhren von IWC. Band 4: Die Armbanduhren (Design Ferdinand A. Porsche), 1985. The watch will be presented now in the museum till March 2014.

There is the following information with the watch:

“Selected watches from friends and collectors of IWC”

The black Ocean 2000 IWC Porsche Design watches are extremely rare and represent a special example of material innovation at IWC. Using the TiCON hardening process developed by IWC, titanium watches were blackened from 1983 to the end of the 1980s. Heiko Bertram is the proud owner of a black Ocean 2000, and has been collecting IWC watches for over 15 years. He is interested in both the company history and the technology employed in the IWC timepieces.

    – Black dial, hardened titanium case and bracelet, convex sapphire glass, water-resistant to 200 bar

    – Black dial, baton hand; indices, hands and triangle in the bezel inlaid with Super-LumiNova

    – IWC calibre 37521, date display, self-winding, 21 rubies, monometallic balance, flat spring, precision regulator, hacking seconds for precise setting of the time, shock-protected balance wheel bearing

    – Sold to IWC Frankfurt on 13 April 1988

    Heiko, fantastic!

This says so much about IWC - a steel "black" pocket watch from centuries past - now replaced by a titanium "black" watch produced around 100 years later, with both watches not only being great mechanical timepieces, but having had (and still have) great design and appeal to the eye!

I am most pleased that IWC honour you and your colletion in this way, and feel honoured that my Black Beauty pocketwatch is followed up by your handsome Ocean watch.

    Best regards
    Mark

The Porsche designed Ocean watches are some of my favorite vintage IWC timepieces. Thanks Heiko, for lending this rare beauty to the IWC Museum so that others can view it!

    Best regards,

Many thanks to IWC and Dr. Seyffer for the rare opportunity, to present this black Ocean in the IWC museum exhibit.

And of course many thanks to all forum participants for your interest in this watch.

I was very surprised when Dr. Seyffer asked me if I could imagine to present this watch in the IWC Museum for a limited time.
Of course I agreed immediately, because the PD by IWC watches were the cause of my IWC fascination.
In particular, this PD by IWC is a very good example of creativity and innovation at that time, because titanium and especially titanium coatings were an experiment and were dared only by very few manufacturers, because it was also very expensive.

For me, this contact to the PD by IWC was the trigger to extend my interest until the IWC pocket watches.

A very interesting hobby that has opened contacts to very interesting people.
And a look inside the black ocean.

    Regards
    Heiko

That is super cool. I love the look of the Ocean 2000 in Black. Partly
because Porsche Design is almost synonymous with Black and its just looks
    amazing.

Can you tell me what are the approximate numbers made of these? How about
    Ocean 500's?
