I'm a new member and glad to be here in the IWC forum. I own 2 IWC's portuguese and big pilot. I am currently considering of purchasing a Aquatimer Galapagos. Can anyone help me and give a feedback about this watch? Thanks!

    Welcome! We're glad you're here.

This watch is quite popular and others have asked the same question on this forum. A little use of the Search function on the forum should get you most of the feedback you want.

Welcome, I have owned said watch since Oct of 2009 and I can say it remains one of my favorites. On my wrist is sits and feels very comfortable. Lucky for me it seems almost impossible to scratch as I wear it almost every Saturday. The time is spot on at this point.
Best of luck and I don't think you will be disappointed if you decide to purchase.
    Let us know.
    Regards,
    Kevin

    Hello and welcome!!!!!

I would love to add the Galapagos as my first Aquatimer in my IWC collection. It's a great looking watch and very unique.

I am sure you will love it and have no regrets.

Here are some pix I had taken last year at the HK Flagship Boutique:

i have owned my Galapagos for a while now and like kevin said seems hard to scratch the case or glass
i wear mine at least 2 /3 times a week so i would say it is getting quite a bit of wear and it still looks as good as when i collected from local dealer. Good luck and happy new year to you

I have tried the Galapagos at my AD a few days ago and it sure looks great! Since I am still saving up for a Portuguese Perpetual, I had to be strong and resist the call of the Galapagos :-)

    Kind regards,

    Clemens

Thank you rooneb and clemens! After hearing from you guys I am more determined to get me one. One more thing, I saw on some of the pictures that the bracelet can be worn both ways ( reversible). Is this correct?

Sorry for the late reply. I don't think it can be worn with the inside out. The rubber strap with the pattern on it was for the prototypes.

    Kind regards,

    Clemens

Its definitely not possible to wear the strap "inside out".

A question gentlemen. How sturdy is the surface coating on the watch, especially at the areas where the strap connects. The examples I have seen in the AD's which I presume have been handled a lot by potential customers look all still in pristine condition.

    Andrew,
After a year of frequent wearing 3x-4x a month, mine still looks brand new. The watch would make a perfect beater as it has held up very well. Hope this info helps.
