.................as seen through my camera lens ;-))))
I was fortunate to be invited to NYC for this eventful day!
At the YUL lounge waiting for my flight:

Sadly, it's still dark outside at this time of the morning :-(

Landed.............

I could almost see the "halo" above the building, LOL!!!!!!!

I found Kevin already lusting for this one...............

The Dragon Edition:

Can it really be the 51st day of the month????!!! LOL
Odd place for the date wheel to stop!!!!!!!!!

My turn to try this on:

After the visit to the Flagship I had a business meeting after-which I headed to the hotel for my appointment with IWC. A few sights on the way:

Arriving at the hotel:

I was met in the lobby by the lovely Maria from IWC (Director of Marketing) and taken to the Penthouse floor.
I was very surprised to see a very special presenter of the Sidérale......guess who?
In a private viewing room this masterpiece appeared:

As I was angling the watch to take a photo of the starry back, I saw this reflection, hehehe!!!!!

This Platinum version was absolutely breathtaking and a joy to wear!

The watch can be customized to over 200 variations with interchangeable dials, cases, straps, hands, etc......
Here are the dial options:

Trying out the Platinum case with Blue dial combo.............what do you think?

With the Silver dial and Gold numbers:

Strap choices:

Rose Gold stitching, WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of the case options - Platinum, Titanium, and Rose Gold. There is also a yellow Gold version available.

What's this?????

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, what's inside the box?

it's a custom made winder for this manual movement. It is also been designed to "sense" the tension and stop as to prevent over-winding, how cool is that!!!!!!

Not sure if the embedding of this video will work, so here's the link showing the winding mechanism at work"

The surprise presenter of the Sidérale was none other than my old friend Hannes Pantli!!!!!!

My appreciation for this watch has grown exponentially now that I have a better idea of it's true functions.
Here are a few things I learned that you might find interesting about the watch:
I already mentioned the customization options for dial, case, strap, hands.
The starry sky is duplicated to the exact point of the watch owner. The representation is accurate up to 20 meters, after-which a new sky is required
It takes THREE (3) months just to chart the sky before any production can start
The star discs change from Grey to Blue depicting day & night
The perpetual calendar shows the day of the year rather than the month/date. For example, instead of showing October 16, it is represented as the 290th day of the year!
There is a sunrise and sunset time indicator on the back
A "solar" day is how long it takes Earth to rotate once (24 hours) – and then some. A sidereal day – 23 hours 56 minutes and 4.1 seconds – is the amount of time needed to complete one rotation. Therefore the main hands (solar time) and the sub dial at 12 (siderale time) will match up once every 12 months!
These are just a few highlights about this timepiece!

This is the box that the watch is transported in from city to city for each presentation.............

It houses compartments for each section of the options (dials, cases, straps, etc.)

There is a telescopic handle that comes out and in the full open position, two wheels pop out of the case for easy rolling through the airports of the world!!!!
Kind of reminds me of my Rimowa briefcase, LOL!!!!!

After the presentation I was meeting Kevin and Alan for drinks but I need some food before any cocktails, LOL!
next door to the hotel is a new place called Links that specializes in sausage sandwiches:

A late lunch!!!!

Back at the hotel waiting:

Here's a group photo of everyone who showed up at the bar for champagne cocktails before the event!!!!

Back at the Penthouse floor for the event, I had a photo taken with the all the lovely ladies from IWC!!!!!!!!!

Here is Gianfranco welcoming everyone:

Mer. Hannes Pantli presenting the Portuguese Sidérale Scafusia to the crowd:

This is the box that the watch will eventually come in:

Left to Right - Gianfranco D'Attis (President IWC North America), Alan, MF, Mr. Pantli, me, and Kevin!

A mini Forum GTG with Alan, Michael, Kevin, and Me!

With Noreen, Flagship Manager:

So the guys were jealous and each wanted a photo with Noreen too, LOL!!!!!!!!

This was a great day and I want to thank Noreen for extending the invitation and thank the IWC team for another amazing event!
