Recently, the alarm and chorno fucntion of my IWC Ingenieur Chrono Alarm was mulfuction but the time function is working well and accurate. Therefore, I have brought it to the local IWC boutique for repair, however the service center told that it has no more spare parts for this model's maintenance. I wonder is it normal for the watchmaker like IWC? I bought this watch in 1998 that just about 14 years. It is hard to believe the life cycle of IWC watch is such unreasonably short. Any idea about this situation? Or some other reputation brands also the same? What should I do or how I could clarify with the IWC factory they really stop providing spare parts as the locatl service center said?
Try either sending the watch to IWC Schaffhausen, rather than a local service center, or contacting Superior Watch in New York, which is an authorized service center for non-warranty IWCs.
Indeed, I am living in HK and have taken my watch to the local IWC official service center for maintenance services. My watch was sent to Schaffhausen for the overhaul service in 2010 once.
This time, I did request HK official service center to send my watch to Schaffhausen factory for inspection again. However, they claimed that had communicated with IWC factory my watch was no need to send to Schaffhausen as they have already NO spare parts available!
Since my watch needs replace battery for every 10-12 months, HK official service center said that they are, from now on, only could provide battery replacement service instead of overhaul service in the future, they even unable to check the water resistance fucntion after replace the battery as they are unable to replace the gasket due to no parts in whole IWC group.
I'm very frustrated and disappointed about the IWC watch quality and after-sales service like this. What should I do, should I make a formal complain to IWC headquater for raising their concerns about future maintenance service because I do very cherish my 1st IWC watch and expect to wear my watch with good condition for decades.
