    Hi everyone,

I have actually picked up a brand new Portuguese Auto 5001-07 today, and I am sure delighted to own my first IWC.

While checking the watch, I discovered a couple of numbers which baffled me a little. Can anyone tell me where the serial number of the PA 5001-07 should be? Mine is found on the back rim of the bezel, located at the 9-10o clock. This number matches the serial number on my guarantee card. I also found a number code (7 digits, in gold color) engraved inside the movement at the 3-4o clock. This golden code does not match the serial number. Is this correct? What is the code then?

Hope I will hear soon from you guys!

    Thanks
    Alan

    Hi Alan, I believe:

Your 'serial' number, rather your 'Case No' as written on your IWC International Warranty Card will be located on the casing back, behind the top-right lug, at the 1 o'clock position.

The 7-digit 'golden code' would be the movement number I think.

Also, depending on when your 5001 was produced, the calibre number may be located in different places, per this discussion.

    Hope this helps !

    Hey Shing,

Thanks for the explanation, and the great info on the calibre number!
I feel more assured now. Will be wearing my new porty to bed with me for the next few nights...

    Regards
    Alan
