Today, the NYC IWC GTG team, Kevin and yours truly, gathered together once again to welcome a visiting forum member. We hosted none other than Anders J., aka Telecaster, to the IWC Flagship Boutique. Anders is in the USA for a family holiday. Kevin met Anders this year at SIHH, but I had not had the opportunity to do so until today. It was a privilege to meet both Anders and his son for a few hours of watch talk and a nice lunch before the guests hurried off to JFK for their return flight home. Anders is training his son to be a watch aficionado. At nineteen he is learning quickly.

Here are the requisite people shots before we get into the IWC stars for the day.

Kevin relaxing, but knowing he has a business meeting in a few hours.

Inspection time for some special IWC’s

    The Ingenieur Constant Force Tourbillon.

Now for a very special IWC:

The Portuguese Sidérale Scafusia. When told the price, Ander’s son indicated he might have to work a couple of summers to afford this one.

In honor of our missing GTG team member Alan, Kevin and I wore blue dialed IWC’s for our show and tell. Three of the eight Laureus series were present and accounted for on the heavy metal table shot.

Our IWC’s for today’s GTG included:

As we were getting ready to head out to lunch, we did a group shot with wristwatches showing:

The IWC Boutique staff was once again a great host. They took time to bring out some very special IWCs and they made sure we were welcomed as usual. Thanks to Alan Hsing, Sales Associate, who watched over us for several hours. Thanks too to IWC for hosting the Collectors’ Forum that makes all of this possible. It’s the friendship we will carry with us for life. If anyone will be traveling to NYC in the future, contact either Kevin or me. We are always happy to host our friends from the Forum.

Cheers from the NYC GTG team: Kevin and Bill

This truly was an awesome morning, a perfect activity for me and my son to round off our 3 week US family vacation. And my wife and daughter were happy to get undisturbed shopping time!

I just briefly met Kevin at SIHH earlier this year. It was the first time to meet Bill face to face. I actually prepared myself by buying a macro lens to my Sony NEX5 the day before but these guys felt so familiar and the discussion flew so natural that I actually forgot about shooting the watches that swiftly were presented by the boutique's Alen Hsing. (Alen, also thx for the great espresso.) I'm happy that Bill brought his professional grade photo equipment...

As is seen on Bill's pictures some great timepieces were presented and tried on, eventually topped with the Siderale! I have earlier told my son about the Siderale and he was stunned to be able to see and feel it IRL. A personal favorite not seen on the pictures was the new Ingenieur Dual Time ref 3244 with "silverwhite" dial.

The watches worn/brought to the meeting by Bill and Kevin were all "something extra" which can be seen on the "table shot".

Despite all great watches that passed our hands this morning, I would say meeting new friends sharing the same interest and passion was the very best part. We had a few great hours and my son also very much appreciated the conversation with Kevin and Bill, especially that they also showed a great interest in his interests and future plans.

Thanks again, looking forward to next time!

    /Anders

Anders, post some pictures. I bet you got a some of the watches that will be wonderful to see. It is great you took time to have a GTG. As you noted, that is a real special part of belonging to the forum.

Good luck to your son as he begins his college career. It was a pleasure to talk with him.

Bill, Kevin, Anders - Always nice to see people having fun and becoming friends at the NYC Boutique!
I will be in NY Sept 13/14 for fun, and again on Sept 20 for the Boutique event. I hope to meet some Forumers I've really enjoyed reading about.

Last April, Andrew welcomed us at the boutique and took us upstairs to meet the Grand Comp and the Sidereal and for once my wife was not bored talking about watches. In fact she was quite fascinated.

I look forward to the 20th and meeting new friends!
